I've put this somewhere else, but maybe he's putting the players we don't want in the shop window, so to speak; trying to sell them.

Not playing our best guys is an attempt to keep them.

Not much I know, but some explanation.

If that was his aim, he'd have been better off locking them in a cupboard somewhere and burning all the DVDs of their past performances.

Dan Gosling. Dan. Gosling. Dan Gosling ran the midfield today. Dan Gosling.

The line up was just abject even in a season of utter abjectness.

The midfield was awful as usual. Only Gana shows some effort and he gives the ball away more often than not.

The defence provided the usual horror moments for their goals. Clark tried but then threw in another mistake.

Only Ayew showed any sign of the requisite skill levels at premiership level.

I don't agree with personal abuse of players and staff despite the appalling season but equally I just couldn't fathom why a significant number near the tunnel and in the disabled section  gave the players an ovation as they left. Probably the same ones who applauded Hutton off last week.

My first match at HQ for a number of months. Some observations: I don't like the booing/jeering of Bacuna/Guzan before they've had a chance to do anything wrong. Yes I know the players have been pathetic but it's no wonder they can't do anything right if they're getting shit from the get go. Having said which I did find the almost comedy atmosphere quite reassuring and even enjoyable. Essentially "we're so bad we'll have a laugh about it". It was great to see a goal and there was a brief 30 seconds when I thought we might get a point. Given I was kind of hoping we'd go down I was surprised how excited I was by this development. A halfway decent team next year will be a pleasure to behold.

Nice to see the Club and Team captains take to the field and provide some guidance and leadership to their team.

Omitting Grealish, Traore, Vertout, Sanchez & Gil. Playing Richardson, Bacuna & Westwood. Utterly, utterly perplexing.

To criticise Black does appear to be an act of the utmost pointlessness and irrelevance, I know, but there is something about what he did today, and the utter lack of wit, imagination and originality that he showed in his team selection, that sums up the Villa tragedy of recent years. Who is he and what's he doing at the club? Look at his CV and you see an honest journeyman, both as a player and coach, who has done nothing in the game. His career seems to be a story of being given jobs by mates at middling sized clubs. A natural sidekick and Number 3. If he was any good he'd have made his mark long ago and the fact that he hasn't says it all really.

And yet he rocks up at the Villa, assists Garde in the early days of our 8 game losing streak and is now in charge of the first team. Read those words and weep and, in a nutshell, don't they just encapsulate what is, and has been, so wrong at the club for years now? Eric bloody Black running the Villa first team in the Premiership. Jeez, we just can't go any lower.

Can we?

I trust Sir Brian watched that unfold today? I hope he advises the board to rid the club of Eric Black asap. There's still people in charge of vital positions at the club who've absolutely no right to be there. Why is Reilly still at the club??

My point exactly Dave.  I said two months ago that the remainder of the season was vital to us after the January debacle because under no circumstances must we allow rigor mortis to set in.  That is exactly what has happened.  The next season is only four months away.  These games like today are part of the preparation for next season.  It is a no brainer.  If we try to correct everything that has gone wrong in the couple of months before the new season kicks off we will be as under prepared for 2017 as we were for 2016.  Eric Black's same old same old, including Lambert's go again mantra, is the very worst thing that could happen to us. It is yet another example of unwitting sabotage by incompetence

The culture of failure and unprofessionalism is so ingrained at Villa that I fear next season will be painful.

There's some games where you can at least pick a man of the match and today you couldn't, they were all terrible. Why he picked Richardson was anyone's guess. It didn't make any sense.

Pisses me off. We're down, we've been down for yonks, how hard can it be to try and entertain us by just going for it. I'd rather lose 6-2 by going gung-ho than keep watching us try to keep it tight, make a defensive fuck up and lose anyway at home to shit like Bournemouth. And by that I mean they were nothing special at all, but like so many crap/average sides this season, they didn't need to be to stroll away with a win.

Memo to everyone coaching etc at the Villa, this is meant to be fucking fun!
