Very good for us, although wasn't so good at right-back.

Even forgive him for going to horrible Juventus.

A thoroughly decent professional and a thoroughly decent man who no doubt is appalled at the goings on at Villa Park.

I liked Olof attitude, he always gave his best whatever position he was asked to play. He also hated our neighbours and took every opportunity to show it

The bloke who has lived next door to us for years is a right twat. Having a big bearded Scandanavian making threats and shouting abuse at him on his front driveway would have been brilliant.

Put him in a cage with Agbonlahor and Richards and see who's left at the end.

He's hardly a "forgotten man", he must be one of our most fondly-remembered players this century.

He was solid at the back, he loved us, and he had a cool Viking look. Hope his management career goes well and maybe he could even end up back here one day.

His new team's top goalscorer is called Hellberg. Which sounds like a death metal tribute to Mellberg.

Fine, fine player for us in the main. 7 years was a long time with us too in modern parlance.

A noughties legend no doubt for younger viewers. The plus 30s have seen better.

With the Swedish season in its mid term break, Olof's team are not as dominant as they were. After 9 games they were 4 points clear. Now they share the top spot with 3 teams breathing down their neck. Its 14 games played, IF Brommapkarna (I think that is the spelling) 29 points, Vasalunds 29 points, Akropolis 28 and Vastera 27, only two get promoted

12 games to go when the season restarts in late August, Olof has some work to do.

Olof's first season as a manager is moving along nicely. With 21 games played in a 26 game season, his team are second to Vasalund - who have 50 Points - Olof's team have 48. The team in third, Akropolis, have 36. As the next game is against Akropolis, a victory would make it virtually impossible for Akropolis to catch them. If Akropolis win, it becomes more interesting but still promotion is for Olof to lose. Only the top two teams go up to the Swedish second division.

It is nice to hear Stilyan Petrov says he would like to manage Villa, but surely he should get some experience like Olof is doing?

Olof Mellberg will secure promotion in his first year as manager. His team is top of the Swedish third division with two games to go, level on points with the second team but with a better goal difference (38 to 33). Both have 57 in a 26 game league and the third team only have 40 so cannot catch them

Its very early days and nothing to write home about at this stage, but the Viking Warrior is learning his trade and learning it well. So all power to his elbow.
