39 Years ago today (this week)
« on: March 19, 2016, 02:08:07 PM »
after 2 disappointing LCFs against (pass the ball back) Everton the previous week - 39 years today we went to Old Trafford for our FA Cup Quarter Final, Only to lose 2-1 after Brian Little put us ahead in the first minute with a 35 yard screamer.

Even though we still had the 2nd LCF Replay to look forward to and we were still in with an outside chance of winning the league - I remember feeling disappointed, as for us then, Man. Utd were very beatable - never would've dreamt 39 years on we'd still be waiting !

Memories anyone ?

Yes, I was at that one, sat with my family amongst the United fans (who had a fearsome reputation at that time).  It was a brave performance by us after an exhausting week.  I recall there was only a very small number of Villa fans at the game.  I think the whole of the game (or very extended highlights) can be found on Youtube.

Also sat in amongst the mancs, on the corner to the right of the Scoreboard End. Don't know why we were in there though. Can't remember much about the game tbh, except being behind the line of the ball as Little's shot flew in at the other end, and struggling to stay sitting!.

I was there. Yes, very few Villa fans went, mainly due to the weekly League Cup Finals we were in at the time. I seem to remember being in the side paddock set aside for us, which made us very visible but perhaps due to our being so few in number don't recall being hassled much. Cracking goal from Sir Brian

I remember that game well.To this day i stiill think if Villa had not been without Chris Nicholl who was replaced by a inexperienced Charlie Young and Andy Gray replaced by a young Dixie Deehan we would have won

One of the few  games I missed that season.   I still think if it had not been for the fixture pile up we could have won the treble (plus Jimmy Rimmer in goal in place of John Burridge).
