My first trophy as a Villa fan.

I thought you were at the Crystal Palace when we beat Sunderland?

I was ejected for persistent standing.

41 years ago today we beat Norwich at Wembley

I always think of that day when I see the calendar flip to March 1. My first trophy as a Villa fan.

I was thinking that - but can we count the 3rd Division as a trophy ?

The most incredible atmosphere at a football match I've ever experienced. People who weren't there must find it hard to believe an atmosphere against little Tranmere Rovers surpassed our European Cup Final success and epic matches against Inter Milan but I'll never forget the chants of Villa, Villa being so deafening I felt my body was going to explode. I put it down to the sheer hunger and desire of our fans to get to another cup final. We hadn't been to one for over ten years and we were ravenous for it.

We would if we were Blues, but as it is we don't need to bother.

Most nerve wracking game ever. I still get chills watching that penalty shoot-out.

A great day and IIRC there is a photo from that day of a section of the Holte End on the front of a subsequent H&V (own copy buried somewhere in parent's loft)

Me and my mate are amongst those in the photo

Weird to think we have played two "now" non league  teams in semis of the League Cup.

One of the best ever games I went to in the cup was Wrexham - 5-1 game at Villa Park in 77' - their cup final and some of the best football ever by the Villa.

This was the last time I stood on the Holte. For me football was never the same again.

When you watch it back again and the cross comes in for Dalian there is complete silence for a split second.

A collective intake of breath.

I remember a heart in the mouth moment when Bosnich brought down (Was it) Aldridge _ I know he scored from the resulting penalty - but was it denial of a goal scoring opportunity.

I remember talking for a quite a while about it (the Friday afterwards) on Tom Ross' phone in - - John Slater in the Sun had made an OTT case that Bozzy should've gone and as this happened after about half an hour - with only 10 players it could've been so different.  Good Ol' Tom - he thoroughly agreed with me.
