Go Retro?

From a visitor post on our FB page. What would your thoughts be about wearing retro shirts next season instead of the new one? Support the team but stop buying the new merchandise?

I've been doing this for 20 years anyway so I'm all for it!

I, for one, will be growing my pubes out and buying a Ford Capri. Fuck you, Lerner.

The new shirts are all a bit close fitting for me these days anyway...

Mebbe just wear the fashions popular in 1981 instead. A cheaper alternative, as some of us could just turn up dressed as normal.

I've been retro since day 1.  Brought up poor so was envious of those kids with their Heston shirts for PE.  Now I have one of those striped scarves that my mom got from a charity shop 20 years ago when they weren't in fashion, and a regular old jumper that's claret with blue horizontal stripes.

Good idea, an excuse to get the old tops out. Just watched the highlights of the 77 LC Final, John Motson sighed off by saying " won by one of the most famous clubs in football....Aston Villa". Sniff.

Better yet make the team play in retro strip.  No collar, string tie necks, blue sleeves, circular blue neck band, boots with toe caps, hair oil, centre partings.  When they are mathematically certain of promotion they can start wearing the poncey stuff again.

That or in all black.

Only in the football season though.  They can either play for the Bears or get a window cleaning round in the summer.

If the prices are the same as Under Armour charge for the Wasps home and away shirt then I think their will be outrage on here and a refusal to buying them anyway as they charge £85.

I think the club would totally miss the point, launch their own range to cash in and loads of idiots would miss the point and buy it. Besides kids would still want the new kit even with some of the current wastrels wearing it

I genuinely don't think they'd be that sharp.
