After 15th May 2016
« on: February 27, 2016, 10:19:56 AM »
Will Hollis remove the deadwood from the top down, on the non playing side?
Will the board help the manager to get rid of the deadwood from the top down on the playing side, regardless of relegation clauses?

According to a poll in the mail, the following players would be kept, and our team for our first game next season would be as follows;

                                                         Bunn

                              Richards       Clark    Okore        Amavi

                              Traore       Gana          Vertout        Gil

                                               Ayew      Grealish

Subs; Gestede, Westwood, Steer.

If we could shed the 11 players not mentioned, we might make a fist of fighting back at the first attempt.
If as Garde intimates, our reserve and youth teams aren't good enough to break into our current dross, then the cull will have to be in biblical proportions.
How we need someone like Vic Crowe now.IMO.

Can't see Richards still here or traore or Gil or ayew. Don't think that side would cut it either. We're desperate for more aggressive and hard working midfielders

To me thats more of a XI who probably won't be there. richards/ayew/vertout/gil/traore could all attract bids. I'd be reasonably happy with bunn/clarke/baker/westwood/hutton/grealish/lescott/gestade as the basis of a squad - could all hack the championship i believe. If the above 5 were sold and we got rid of a few more you don't mention then a couple  of midfielders and a striker could be added that wouldn't break the bank. Those that can't be sold we keep as reserves and use the youth team for the rest

Why would we want to keep Grealish? He's done the square root of fuck all this season.

He's a kid with a lot of potential. The 2nd division would be a good proving ground for him.

perhaps but he's not the only one on that list who's been rotten. i think he'd find his feet in the championship and at least contribute. He's young and he's in the last chance saloon. Worth a try.

He's just turned 20, started about a dozen league games, and some folks want rid or think he's in the last chance saloon?

If the agents of the players are remotely competent they will advise their clients that they can get better deals for them playing well in the Championship than in the limbo of having just been relegated.  Jordan Ayew could get a move to a bottom half of the Premiership club when we go down.  He could walk into a top half club with the 20 Championship goals he is perfectly capable of scoring with us next season.

Rightly or wrongly he doesn't give the impression of a dedicated young player. In our current mess, the last thing we need is a kid who thinks he's made it already

He seemed to cope at an even lower level with Notts County okay.

Grealish was far and away the best player on the pitch v SHA.

Kid has well and truly messed up this season but if he can start acting professional shining at a lower level will be a good grounding for him. All about attitude though and having Gabby as a mentor dosen't bode well.
