We really are a shambles of a club at the moment aren't we?

That was demonstrated perfectly yesterday when players would not even make the reserves five years ago are startng players. I'm at a loss to understand why it's Gardes fault though , i suspect with better players to pick he will make a good manager. None of this team are his [unless you believe the conspiracy theory of the summer signings - I dont]. This all started a long time before he was even considered for the post.

What i find amazing is that this season has been an obvious car crash from at least the Leicester game however in all honesty its been coming for years but no one at board level gets the sack.

Over the last few seasons we have replaced our better players with not so good players, we have then replaced those players with worse players still and yet that policy, which must come from the board room, hasnt lost anyone other than the manager his job. I guess that the "transfer committee" are still all in place.

i dont really care how many shirts we sell, i do care however that i am entertained on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday and that my football team play good football and get some decent results, enough to give me hope, enough to give me reason to keep going to the games.

I know that Sherwood wasn't the greatest manager in the World but it appeared he wanted to buy in the summer to strengthen, not just to fill gaps [which he did as well] , Townsend and Adeybayor were mentioned. He came out strongly through his mates in the press to promote those players as targets, they may have worked they may not. It would have at least  given the impression that the club recognised the problems long term and possibily  to a feeling of the club trying to do sometihng rather than letting it drift.

We're drifting now now with no rudder and a bloody big hole in the boat.

As i started this post ... what a complete shambles of a club, my club ...
Well they has a player down injured for about 5 minutes. We were already being mullered. That was Remis chance to rally the troops. He just sat there looking shellshocked and offered nothing to the players who stood around scratching their heads like a bunch of gormless fucking adolescents. That was the moment the penny dropped for me. Remi Garde just ain't gonna cut it in the premier league.

And what does he say? Leandro dont mis-kick the ball there again mate? Bunn-y never mind the complete horlicks you made of the free kick pal there's always the next one. Joles, if you could get closer to Sturrage than half the Holte you'd be doing us all a big favour.

He's had this useless bunch professional footballers [not U11's] all week. He and his coaching staff has given them what they must do until he's blue in the face I would imagine. Carrigher said that no one in the Premiership would look at any Villa player for their squad once we get relegated. Thats not the manger's fault [at least not this one]

there's a first time for everything but i am afraid i agree with Carrigher.

Feel so sorry for Remi! What do people expect him to change? What else could he of done yesterday, what tactics / line up would you of changed!

Guy in the Holte next to me was shouting at the fans all game for singing Remi's name and questioning his management?

Yes it has been terrible but my goodness who else would want the job?

The last 15 minutes of the game were superb! What an atmosphere in the Holte! Scarfs being waved "Everywhere we goooo, Everywhere we gooo, were the villa boys, making all the noise"

Remarkable considering we were 6-0 down!

The song was good for the first couple of games but not it's starting to sound like we're Wycombe or Orient or someone. Just happy to be playing the big boys so will sing about how happy we are to be there.

or how about the captain and the club captain calling the Villa players over and giving them some ideas, confidence or just a fucking kicking up the arse !

I actually feel sorry for Remi....

Luckily my almost 5 year old played Angry Birds for most of the match and is too young to follow it - only took him otherwise I'd never get down (his 2 year old twin brothers keep me and Mrs MDC busy). I did find myself wondering after watching the orgy at the side of the pitch every time a goal was scored and scousers spilled out of their seat with no apparent consequence what is going to change to make my boys proud and enthusiastic Villa fans rather than keeping Dad company?

I also wondered if Villa are talking in meetings today that there is a generation of kids who won't come. With my missus that is 5 season tickets for a decade at least that's at risk. Do they care? Does anyone care? What will make them care? Who knows.

The match itself was like listening to the theme tune from Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads on repeat. Literally no one looked like they gave a fu**, the team looked lethargic and slower than erosion everywhere on the pitch. Mrs MDC suggested I took him to Wasps instead - £15 a ticket and under 10's free. Its not the same I mumbled. She looked at me pityingly.

Less than 12 months ago we were beating the same club who hammered us yesterday. That day at Wembley we had 4 international class players in our team - all have subsequently been allowed to leave us - without very much of a fight - that is down to the owner of the club.

Those 4 players gave us hope - one was about to retire through injury - but the other 3 are all premier league players - who in their own ways helped us survive. All 3 were being chased by other teams because they knew they could do a good job for them. What did our owner do? Did he make any effort to keep them - NO.

That is why we lost 6-0 yesterday - that is why this season has been an utter shambles. That's why the players don't show any passion. Our owner hides away and lets others take the blame.

Sherwood - not the greatest manager in the world but good enough to motivate an average set of players - given a bit of support to keep the better ones and bring a few more in - could have at least kept us up.

Garde - we will probably never find out if he could be succesful - as the mess he has inherited is so awful - it would take a miracle worker to sort out. We can all see he has been shafted by the owner.

The owner has to go. And go as soon as possible. If not things will just go from bad to worse.

Do we ever see a day when we will be succesful again with his still holding the purse strings? NO.

Don't worry guys it's not like we needed to buy any players in January or anything, everything's fine!

Yeah we needed a striker in January but yet the clueless fool Garde concentrated on a goalkeeper which we aren't desperate for and wanted to spend over the odds for a half season loan of a right back which once again we don't need.  He can't see what's infront of him desperate for a striker but focuses in the positions we don't need replacing.

Oh and he also has no motivational skills what so ever this game proves that. 2:0 at half time just like Sunderland were he should have fired them up to get an early goal in the second half but he is incapable of that.  We should have stuck with Sherwood if moyes wasn't available.

I think we do need a goalkeeper and we also need a right back. I think many people would agree on that.
It's not to say we don't need a striker because we do do but it certainly isn't either/or.

Simple fact is goals win you games, we haven't got a striker that can put the chances away.  it's not rocket science tighten up the defence and we'll draw games 0:0 but that won't get us out of this mess. we needed to forget about clean sheets and focus 100% on a striker to score our way out of this.

Yes he is clueless yesterday proved that 2:0 down to a team that had blown a 2:0 lead against our relegation rivals very recently he should have fired them up to get a early goal in the 2nd half that would have changed things but the players came out after his half time team talk worse than they had been playing in the 1st half.

I thought we came out in 2nd half and tired to get into them , the 3rd goal though destroyed them after that it could of been anything the Toure goal at the end , well we might has well have just picked the ball up and thrown in in the net for them it was that bad.

Despite the pick up in form its a team with a legacy of struggling mixed with guys adjusting to the league and when it started going badly wrong they crumbled.

The team I'm sure didn't go out to lose but all of them to man seemed lost from the word go , they couldn't deal with Liverpool's pressing and the goals were abysmal on every level.

I watched the game with my Dad.

He's 79, I'm 50.

He first took me in 1971. He's been going since the 50s. He thinks this is the worst Villa side he's ever seen. I think he's right, although I did see the three Steves' (Simms, Foster and Hodge) play for us.

At the end of this game he looked at me, and, with a real tear in his eye, said 'Son, I'm so sorry you're a Villa fan, this is terrible and it's all my fault'.

I wouldn't change a thing. I was there at Highbury in '81, on the pitch and euphoric. I have seen us win trophies, score great goals and be crowned champions of Europe. Villa, on balance, has given more pleasure than pain in my life. (The pain is catching up I have to confess, Wembley last May was a new low, or so I thought).

We'll come again. Football comes in cycles. It may not be for a few years, but we'll be back.

Let's look out for visionary like Graham Taylor. Let's find a dynamo like David Platt. Let's take in another cast-off like Paul McGrath. Let's prudently invest in another goal machine like Benteke. Let's find another leader like Olof Mellberg. They're out there somewhere.

I know it feels terrible, but who reading this would really trade loyalties? Who's swap places with a Leeds fan, an Arsenal fan, even a ManUre fan? No, thought not.

Up the Villa, the best club in the world.

As a footnote, I have two sons, 19 and 17. Both hate football despite my best efforts. Lucky lads.
