It could be worse. It could rain.

Snowing here. There won't be enough to build a snowman though.

Can you try anyway, and build one that play CF please? And another for RB. And RM. And CB. And CM.

Remi Garde's snowman army, Remi Garde's snowman army!

What was difficult to stomach was the inept performance of several players today. It was also pretty awful seeing toure header go in unchallenged and far far too easy. I found veretout contribution in the match pitiful and he was played out of position lost on the left. He really didn't offer anything apart from one showboat back heel. Gana was industrious and combativtive but sadly lacking in passing numerous occasions but would suggest to Jamie carragher than he is one player would play at prm level or top lel in other nations leagues. Cara also talking rubbish to say we are the worst he's seen in prem when Sunderland and derby were far worse. And I think he played against those teams its a downright liberty for his comments when the chap Henry sitting next to him put him on his backside every time they played and humiliated him .

Back to the match .
Gil can be busy but so ineffectual an dlighteight it pains me to say he's both not suited to premier league bustle and to agree with Sherwood that he's not right player for a relegation battle.
The team itself saw Gil ahead of agbonlahor at times and even leading the line that wasn't right and I do feel that Sinclair should have come on at half time. He at least showed something and was unlucky not to score. I found Richards play interesting today wants to take on the world with dribbles  and lescott showed some spirit and had a few forrays forward but ultimately not good enough. Westwood shows both his frustration and limits ability today but he's capable of playing in championship so can continue. I not entirely sure what happened with agbonlahor and he wasn't given much support despite winning a fe flick ons. I think Garde kept his counsel and was obviously disappointed like the players .

I also think Liverpool weren't even so great today and did what they needed to do. Was emotional seeing big Ben back and milner was class in not celebrating. I think the firsttrouble we have now on such a showing is that matches against  decent attacking players can struggle .
This was a very poor performance and I think there is need to put in players who are going to show some fight even of there quality is lacking or no experience.
Well done to lyden today coming on and being steady can't be easy in circumstance but he gave some verbals to the ref assistance showing his passion.

Bunn did what he could today but could be at faukt for the free kick second goal. He can't be totally blamed but didn't have much else to do apart from a few good saves. The clyne goal which summd up veretout lassirz faire attitude was annoying for bunn .
That was the problem some good work undone by stupidity .
I fear Garde is the right manager at the wrong time. The situation does require a experienced manager and the right players to be motivated .
Next season if it is the case villa go down the good players can be developed and those who have failed or aren't wanting to support can be moved on.

Overall very disappointing the manner of the defeat and that their is a lack of attacking intent yet again . I d rather lose 4-2 than 6-0 by giving it a go .
It's really a case of do or die and have a go time as the goals and flair need to be shown. I rather have a straight forward approach to matches but think Garde will continue with the play where there is a lack of width and less final ball passing

The next week is off thank goodness and hopefully a chance to reflect and sort out some shambles.
Going to watch motd2 now see the analysis they give .

Villa are a great club an dthat should always be recognized to see the laughter and humiliing defeat must say something to learner. It's not right what happened today let alone the last few seasons . if anything can be salvaged for the season let's hope the break does so and a performance not seen like that I 81 years doesn't happen again in our lifetimes

The only amusing part of the day was the Liverpool celebrity fans page in the programe, two of which are apparently Brad Pitt and Pope John Paul II.

I've got to the point of thinking we've been a shit, pointless premier league club for too long now. Maybe we need to drop down a division or two, have a bit of a purge, and start being a club to be proud of again.

There's worse thing that could happen, like another five years like the last.

You can say the same thing about our 'defending' for all the goals. Liverpool didn't have to work to get any of their goals, we more or less handed it to them. Normally we only gift one goal per game, today we excelled in our generosity.

I have to agree. It's been wretched down at VP for nigh on five years now and of course there's no guarantee it'll get better (it could get worse), I'm prepared to take the chance that relegation could actually rid us of much of the scar tissue we've carried with us. I'll get the same buzz if I see us beat Rotherham as I do Norwich...I just want to see us win more often.

How come all the programme stalls were sold out yet only 35,000 were there today. Have Villa reduced the print run or something?

Probably. I'd say programme sales are down at all clubs. I just think they're going out of fashion in these digital download days.

What makes you think Lerner's Villa are set for a glorious rebirth in the Championship?

I have to politely disagree on the focus of your post- "we" haven't been a shit, pointless Premier League club, it's our owners who have been utterly shit and who have run us appallingly. "We" don't need to drop down, it's the custodian who need to hold his hands up, act with honour and integrity and fall on his sword.  As for the purge, with Randy Lerner overseeing it, expect another five years like the last.  He is totally incompetent.

Would we be any more proud of a Villa in the Championship, beating the shit of the land like Birmingham? I know it's becoming a thing of the past but I'd much rather be proud of us in the Premiership.  The problem is that the board seem to vehemently disagree with me.
