Good assessment. I didn't realise the Baggies were as poor as they looked on Saturday no wonder they were booed off - no doubt they'll find comfort in being in the division come the end of the season though. That, the lack of penalties and transfer activity are all pretty sobering (so much so I think I need a drink).

Good analysis as ever, with stats/observations not mentioned on here since the game which is impressive as it must be difficult to write anything "fresh" 24 hours or more after the game.

Re the press not mentioning WBA being booed off whereas we always get ''CRISIS!'' headlines when something similar happens at VP - a compliment to us I guess, they're not seen as relevant enough for the media to even mention it.

I can never quite go along with the ''if we had rightfully been awarded a penalty we would have won'' logic as obviously the entire game would have been different then and who knows what might have happened? Though given our neighbours' complete lack of attacking impetus, perhaps not much would have changed in this instance. For the Leicester game though, they certainly looked dangerous enough to claw back any deficit and I think most were agreed a draw was a fair result.

I did find it funny them being booed off. I strayed onto one of their forums where they were really taking the piss out of us for booing the team on and off against Wycombe.

Small Heath fans made a big deal of Villa fans booing at HT during our match Vs them this season.

Then proceeded to boo their own team off the following Saturday.

It's all part of this idea that we're worse/fickle/less loyal than them.

There will be parties on pubs in the Black Country that will be all ticket affairs of we drop. That is how obsessed the Olbiyun are with us.

Judging by what I saw last Saturday the pubs need not put the tables and chairs away because the Tescos are so bad if they don't drop this season they will pass us on their way down next season.

I was speculating from a position of knowledge rather than having proof of such! It would not surprise me on there at all though.

The Albion fan at work is the bitterest, most Villa-obsessed person I've ever met. He knows everything that goes on at VP, more than most Villa fans I know, Worse than any Blue nose I know.

There's still a week or so left to get someone in, and so I thought the end was a bit bleak.
Even saying that though...!

Good article Dave.

I particularly liked the line about Tony Pulis teams being booed onto the pitch as well. Personally I think people should just follow him around all day, booing.
