Big boots to fill but Andrew Gale is the new first team coach at Yorkshire.

Isn't he a bit young for that?  Seems like a lot to take on if he's still playing.  I guess the advantage is that he's worked under Gillespie as captain so they see as providing continuity.

He's retired as a player, think he's a good appointment as he's very highly thought of by the players, worked closely with Gillespie and it brings a bit of continuation. He had a poor season with the bat this year, should imagine Lees will be given the captaincy.

Ah, I didn't realise he'd retired, he's only about 31-32 isn't he?

Giles will surely find the lure of Edgbaston too good to turn down and being close to home?

Giles has always struck me as a pretty decent/honourable guy so I do think he will feel that he has an unfinished job at Lancashire and be compelled to stay.

I agree with the "never go back" sentiment and think that whilst Giles would be a good choice I think they will look elsewhere. I'd like to see Flower get the job, he lives locally and is an internationally respected coach.

Giles is a Bear at heart and a great coach. Hope it's him back at Edgbaston by the end of the week.
