Murray is going to do very well to win the French now.
Yep, starting with two 5 set games isn't exactly conserving energy for the second week.

I doubt he'll ever win the French. Wouldn't be surprised to see him win the Convict Open at some stage and reckon he could win the US and/or Wimbledon again.

He beat Djokovic on clay in a final only a couple of weeks ago, and with the arse picker still not at his best at the moment he has an excellent chance in this tournament. Well he did before these two five-setters anyway!

Beating Djokovic on clay in a Mickey Mouse tournament is different to beating him in one of the Grand Slams.

It's a bit like saying we could win the Champions League because we beat Juventus in the Peace Cup.

The Italian Open is hardly Disney level, only Nadal and Djokovic had won it for ten years.

I really isn't. Djokovic might up his levels just a little bit more in Grand Slams but he hates losing in any tournament, that's why he's won so many.

Murray is 2 sets up against the current French Open champion Stan Wawrinka and looks like he'll make his first French Open final.

Unfortunately Djokovic is already through.... :-\

That grumpy Scottish fella is in some pretty good company here.

According to the beeb

Quote
Andy Murray has joined a list of 10 players who have reached the final of every single Grand Slam.

He joins Jim Courier, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl, Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall.

and he's the first British mens singles finalist at the French Open since 1937 - Bunny Austin.

I looked up who the '37 finalist was. It was somewhat chilling to see the German players with the Swastika flag alongside their names on the Wikipedia page for the 1937 tournament

Well done Garbine Muguruza beating Serena Williams in 2 sets. That's the last 3 slams, Williams has now failed to win, maybe on the decline.

Good luck Murray tomorrow, he'll need it.

Agreed. He doesnt get the credit he deserves. He has been unlucky to be in the same era as Nadal, Federer and Djokovic
