Just read Jimmy White's Autobiography. A fascinating read especially the chapter on Higgins. The bloke was mad! But equally charismatic at the same time. Some of his antics were hilarious.

Not sure.  I know the British Legion in Selly Park where (Alex) Higgins won his first title and the venue of the first World Championship (also in Birmingham) have both been knocked down. Worth a couple of blue plaques though,  I reckon.
remember it well alex stayed at bobs cafe while in birmingham had a few beers in the selly park

Me and Our Dad went to one of the nights at the Selly Park Legion when Higgins won the title. The final was spread over the week and the night we went he won 6-0.

Graham Miles was often in The Arcadian when I used to play there. He was usually playing cards though.

Recommend anyone who loves there snooker to read Steve Davis' autobiography.

Pretty clear from reading it that he had little sympathy for Alex in the end and that he went out of his way to avoid socialising with him away from the table.

Well it's arguable, and the rack pack argued it that way, that Higgins had a big hang-up about Steve Davis anyway and they way that those with more flair were not getting the money. Given his infamous, "I hate Steve Davis" quote that I remember him making after some victory in the mid 80s its hardly surprising that Davis had any sympathy with or for him. Plus I find it not that too difficult for him to avoid socialising with him.

In fairness Davis hardly mixed with any players during his prime.
