I have a horrible feeling that tonight may see the return of our Club Captain

If he is selected I would imagine that a performance anything resembling the one he (did not) put in at WHL would ensure that the curtain has finally closed on his Villa career.

If Gabby plays, it will be a miracle because he will have to have bought into everything Garde is preaching. He did look much slimmer in the training pics so maybe, just maybe he can still contribute. He has talent, but his attitude has been awful for a while now. He's been given so much licence to what the fuck he wants and with very few able to openly challenge him. If he plays it will mean he has convinced Garde there is real change. I just don't see it myself.

If he's shown a decent attitude to Garde I wouldn't be adverse to Gabby playing tonight for a couple of reasons, despite me thinking it's best if he leaves the club sooner rather than later.

1) If we want shot of him, we know from the bomb squad how hard it is to shift a player when you freeze them out.

2) If he's staying until at least the summer, then a fit and half decent form Gabby is still an asset, even from the bench. As much as i've been critical of him I will admit that whenever Gabby hits any kind of form, invariably so do we.

And ultimately it is 'only' Wycombe at home, if he can't look half decent against a 4th division side then McGrath help him, and us.
