when you have a championship standard player like bacuna starting regularly over 3 seasons and being equally shit in every position he plays in you end up where we are now

When most of the team are made up of Championship standard players you definitely end up where we are now.

I posted a year or so ago words to the effect that if we buy Championship players and/or Championship quality players, then that is eventually where we will end up.

Well said brother. Happy New Year to Villa fans everywhere. And as sure as eggs is eggs the mighty Villa will come roaring back. My 22yr old son is actually looking forward to a season of the villa being a big fish in a small pond as his generation have heard all the tales from us about the fun we had back in the day!!

I've always thought that Bacuna flatters to deceive because of his supposed versatility. Like most of our squad, is regularly guilty of making terrible decisions. The frequency at which he gives the ball to team-mates in poor positions, or looks to play square or cross-field balls in order to just 'pass the buck' instead of trying to instigate any attacking movement is the thing I find most frustrating about him. He's not even the set-piece specialist he appeared to be at first. He hasn't hit even a remotely decent one since that Cardiff game! He's a squad player at best at this level. I can't think of one other side in the Premiership where he'd be anything other than an occasional name on the bench.

To be fair Bacuna is versatile. Unfortunately, it equates to him being equally shite wherever he plays.
I  called him rubbish and got jumped. No one has said a word about him being called shite!! Some villa fans can be so fickle.

You didn't get jumped on, you got disagreed with. It's how a forum works.

Well said that man! Here's to a happier 2016 to every Villa supporter - regardless of how poor things are at present. It WILL get better (albeit after enduring a fair bit more rubbish). UTV & SOTC.

Well it's probably the two most useless teams in the league and it's going to be decided by either who makes the most mistakes and who has the most bottle. Because of this my money is on us to lose yet again.

Taking my son and two nephews up to this. £263 by train, coach is 6 hours (no good seeing as two of the kids are 6), and a flight to Newcastle goes via Cork, Amsterdam, or Barcelona. So, driving it is. We'll lose, too.

The fragility of that second half performance spoke volumes.
They have given up and Sunderland still have some fight.
Yes they are shit but good enough to beat us.

Read their Ready To Go forum, they're as depressed and downbeat as us. They're also using the same comments; "any team on a bad run or needing a win we help them out". They're better than us though and are due a win against us so I think it will be us helping them out. First half will be cagey, they'll get one quite early second half, we'll attack (HAHA) and they'll get one or two more on the break.

Some of them on their board really dislike us, very irrational. I don't mind Sunderland, decent club with good support and it's a shame we're both down there instead of tinpot clubs like Albion and Palace.

That's a bit sad. Perhaps I could instigate some hearty bridge-building if I popped onto their form & suggested they stick 'down' on the end of their web address? Besides, we're all in it together.
