midfield looks shit

It's the same midfield as Saturday apart from Bacuna. I think it looks ok, apart from the defensive changes which may have been enforced anyway.

Richardson, Bacuna, Westwood, Sinclair=rubbish and a defeat.

Please prove me wrong.

Perhaps we have a few injuiries they are keeping quiet apart from Sanchez who has hamstring problems. Bit of a worry that team selection.

I suspect Bacuna will play on the right to cover Hutton, which is much needed after the last few games.  Once you do that you don't have many options at leftback other than Richardson (Kinsella being called in to a team in this situation isn't a great idea) that leaves you needing similar cover on the left so Sinclair gets called in to offer that and then Ayew and Veretout are the 2 genuinely undroppable players in the team and Westwood and Gana are the only other fit central midfielders so the front 6 are almost picked for you.  Central defence I think it's a fitness thing, Okore was looking tired after about 60mins on Saturday and Lescott probably can't handle 2 games in 2 days.

Whichever way he picks the team, whoever he picks or drops, I invariably look at our line up and feel my stomach sink.

Christ on a bike, we need to do some business in January, and in the early part of it too.

Totally agree. And I hope Norwich play the same side they put out on Saturday.

CB pairing makes sense. Westwood playing is meh but Sanchez is out. He had half decent game on Saturday and shojld be fresh.

Richardson bothers me most.

Considering our position and the opposition, I would have hoped Remi would have been a little braver.
Either Grealish or Gil to have started instead of Richardson, with Bacuna continuing at LB.

Guess we just need to see how this all pans out.

If you pick Richardson at LB makes sense to have Sinclair as he will provide a bit of back up - something Gil or Grealish are totally uncapable of.

Just glad he hasn't fell into the trap of wasting a starting place on Gil

A miserable line-up, but since we need a miracle to stay up, there's as much chance the miracle will happen with this shower than any other.

Okore must be injured. Please win Villa.

Happy Birthday Paul.

Good start, Richards bungled that.
