Newcastle vs Aston Villa Match Thread
« on: December 19, 2015, 04:32:35 PM »
Prayers said, begging the good Lord McGrath and Jedi Master Skywalker that today is the day we win again

Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Okore, Lescott, Bacuna, Gana, Westwood, Veretout, Sanchez, Sinclair, Ayew
Subs: Bunn, Clark, Richardson, Traore, Gil, Grealish, Gestede

Not really a very positive, attacking line up. Disappointed if I am being honest.

That's a strange looking team. 4-4-2 diamond possibly? No Gil? He really doesn't trust the defence one little bit.

Looks like the usual "wait 'till we're in the shit then introduce some attacking intent, too late"

Gil's been pretty poor in his last couple of appearances.

That lineup is terrible. Setting us up for a draw and not to lose, draws are no good to us. We need to win.

Yes, but Westwood's been pretty poor in his last couple of seasons.

Sinclair has done nothing to retain his place.

Oh well, I'm sure we'll bring some flair on when we're 3-0 down.

We really are fucked.

Dreadful line up.  Westwood is the new Heskey.

What I don't like about it is that side will tray and contain in the first 15-20 as opposed to attacking and trying to be the more dominant side. Inevitably we'll concede and not have enough guns to get back into the game. He's scared to death of the counter if does press too high but I don't think this is the way either.

I'm not sure we really have a line up that looks too attacking. Who'd you put in? Gil's been poor of late, Grealish hasn't been great all season and whilst Traore looks good - there is an element of truth in what Garde says about how he is when he doesn't have the ball. Before he went on that excellent run against Arsenal he hadn't touched the ball once in five minutes.

I'd like Traore to start too, but I can absolutely understand why he hasn't.

Whatever way we look at it, we have a terrible squad.

Hardly inspiring, but Newcastle are rotten, and if the attitude is right, it could well carry us over the line. Come on lads, bust a bleedin gut for the cause!

Blimey, that's a depressing looking side.
