I just want to experience what it's like to win a PL football match again.

Nothing but a win or a draw will  do so I will go 0-1 to the Villa Guzan big kick.

How the heart plays tricks.

A draw is no good I'm afraid.  We need to win the next 3 games, unlikely as that may be.

Like Garde said, we need to win at least two out of the next four. That will put us on 12 points and depending how other teams do, it might look a bit better going into the new year.

agree with that it has to be at least 12 points come jan 2nd

even with that we will need 26 points from 18 games so literally a 50% win rate

Whatever happens today there are still 66 points to play for. That's how Remi and the rest of us should be looking at it.

We'll be lucky to take the 6.

Number 1 priority in January. Pick up a decent keeper who will give the defenders some confidence. That one thing will give us a chance of survival. Why that wasn't addressed in the summer I'll never know.
Once again my eternal optimism is telling me score draw today. We will take the lead but end up hanging on to a draw. 2-2

The head says we'll get turned over tonight. We don't look like we have a win in us. Also, the geordies still hold a grudge over their relegation in 2009 (the accounts of which I feel are more and more exaggerated as time goes by, with the exception of that "sob on the Tyne" flag).

However, the heart says we'll win tonight, then win the next three after that!

It's about trying to remain positive for me. Like the young lad Lyden said, one win could breathe confidence into the team. Like I said the other day, I do fancy us more in the upcoming games than today but you never know, get the crowd on their backs today and who knows.

Have we ever held such a grudge? We've had Newcastle, Norwich and Leicester that don't seem to forget minor incidents - be it laughing at their relegation or nicking their managers.

I'm not sure. All I know was that I was on holiday in Spain last summer and on our first night ended up with some bitter geordie glowering at me because of who I supported (I wasnt about to deny who my team were). I felt like telling him the accounts of that day we greatly embellished but knew it would have been a thankless task.

And that's the point. Two banners and a chorus of Going Down has been exaggerated out of all proportion. Their supporters I spoke to after the match were angry at the players, not us. As ever, we let the other side control the story.

John Carver put the boot in on us as well a while back before we played them.

A couple of mates who were at the game said they were a bit taken aback by some of the hostility they experienced before and after the match and were a bit baffled as to where it all came from as well as the gleeful celebration of their relegation. Don't know which pubs they were in but there was some trouble caused by Villa fans spoiling for a fight. Consequently they are now looking forward to the last game of the season.

Anyway, one of them told me he reckons they won't win today as they never win three in a row, whereas I pointed out we never seem to win one in a row.
