An away win against the odds to breathe new life in to our season and provide momentum for a surge of optimism and an up-and-at-'em crack at West Ham on Boxing Day.  2-1 Villa, as the St James's crowd look on in disbelief.

No realistic alternative to Guzan, but at the back Hutton has to go after too many individual errors.  In comes Richards at RB, with Okore and Clark as the CB pairing and Lescott filling in at LB.

Gana will get his chin off his chest, Sanchez will get rid of that mask and return to form, and Veretout will continue his improvement.

Up front, no place for either of the two duds, Gabby and Gestede.  In comes Ayew to lead the line, supported by our most creative player Gil and the returning boy wonder, Grealish.

Adama Traore to come off the bench with plenty of time in the second half to make an impact.

Lescott - no thanks. I'd rather play the kid. Gil and Grealish together. No thanks.

Other than that you are about as good as we can get.

Does anybody know if Bunn is any good?

Bunn has played 171 games since 2001 the highlight being 23 games at Norwich in 3 seasons, other clubs are Sheff Utd 32 appearances, Leicester 3 appearances and 6 for Blackburn

So I would say not very good

According to Physioroom Gardner's injured - no return date

Shame. Had hoped he would insert some passion into our midfield.

Newcastle 0-3 Aston Villa.

No Newcastle fans giving it large behind the barriers after the game this time.

Is Crespo still on our books? Wasn't he described as a utility defender who could cover any position in the back line? Perhaps worth a shot at LB or RB.

He did ok in the game v Stoke at sort of RCB

Our fringe players must be unbelievably bad if they really can't improve the first XI. 2-0 Villa

Shame. Had hoped he would insert some passion into our midfield.
Only if he throws his Crutches/hospital bed/sicknote at them, they should rename this kid Gardening leave for the amount of time he`s played for us.

Perhaps he could protect the back four by parking his private ambulance in front of the back four.

Must remember to tell Lescott that a five tonne big lump of white metal with four wheels isn't a player

For what it's worth, I'd go;

                          Guzan

Hutton     Richards       Okore       Lescott

                 Gana           Veretout

Sinclair                 Gil                     Traore

                          Ayew

Bunn, Clark, Bacuna, Sanchez, Grealish, Agbonlahor, Gestede

Just score some goals and don't cock it up at the back..

what is so hard about that?

It would appear to be extremely hard for Aston Villa

Maybe you should convince yourself that we lose and who knows?
