When was the last time a Man Utd FA Cup game wasn't televised live?

Isn't it something daft like 17 years ago or something?
*trots off to google it*

I think i remember hearing but not 100% it was at home against Exeter in 2005

I'm back! Yep, third round, 2005. This'll be their 48th consecutive televised tie. In a competition they've not won since 2004.
they usually win it when the year ends in 6

Maybe because they have more armchair supporters than any one else.

And more armchair haters to be fair. It'd just be nice, for once, if it was decided "yeah that's a shit tie, let's not bother". Literally, when will it end if isn't fucking Sheff U at home. Is this the rest of our lives?

Armchair viewers deliver subscription and advertising revenue. Armchair haters deliver nothing but hatred, which is hard to monetize unless you are a religious charlatan or Fox News.

I believe that we must delete the armchairs.

What I want to know is why on earth is the Salford City game not live on TV - I thought they had a 5 year season ticket for BBC live coverage.

They've announced a couple more since I checked the FA website. Oxford v Swansea is on BBC Wales. Chelsea v Leyton Orient or Scunthorpe is on BT.

If you thought they were twats picking Man U v Sheffield U, I think that Chelsea selection has topped it.

More reasons why the FA Cup gradually gets more boring as it goes on, unless Villa are still in it of course. I lose interest completely by round four if we aren't.

Even excluding Villa, last year's competition was ace. Loads of upsets, loads of scummy teams out early.

Tbh, for a pay/subscription channel, their choices make perfect sense. I'm surprised they're showing us, not a tie that'll put much in the coffers, I'd've thought. Good picks by the beeb too, imo.

I agree. If the BBC had picked the Uniteds tie then there would be reason to complain.

BT should pick the matches that they think will bring in the most viewers. They don't really have an obligation to anything more than that.

Surely they have an obligation to people who have already paid?

An obligation to millions of armchair united and chelsea fans, who'll be avidly watching whilst sat on the sofa/in the pub in their replica shirt, which they've fulfilled. I'm under no illusions as to thinking that keeping the"spirit" of the Cup alive enters their planning, as opposed to any opportunity to stick those pair on the telly.
