My previous post regarding Remi being told who to pick was very much tongue in cheek, just for clarification.

Fair enough, apologies for the curt response. Tongue in cheek is difficult to spot in amongst all the feet in mouths that the current situation lends itself to.

For some reason, I really don't know why, but this game puts me in mind of the 1-0 injury time victory over Fulham under TSM1. I felt at the time that it was going to be a turning point but it just ended up being a tiny high spot in the season. I think we'll see a similar painfully ground out win that will prove to be the turning point or high spot.

I was heartened by the display against Citeh, as far as defence and midfield were concerned, but I just didn't - and still don't - see any goal threat whatsoever. 0-0

Nor me, I can't see us scoring, shots on target are as rare as hens teeth

A win. Just because we have to. A good nerve settling session in The Bartons required beforehand.

Obviously the win above all else is important but the manner of the performance is doubly so. A scrappy lucky win may buy a week's respite but nothing more. To believe we can get out of this we need a good solid performance and 3 points. That we find 3 points at home against Watford a rough ask tells us everything at the moment, though.

A lucky win may be all we need though to kickstart confidence. Ideally we'll batter them with ease, but for me the win is the only thing that matters Saturday.

Any old win will do. It bouncing in for an own goal off Deeney's cock on 93 minutes would be just fine. We need a win to arrest this slide. A stroke of luck wouldn't go amiss either.

By way of example, Olbiyun beat Arsenal at the weekend. They had 27% of the possession and one shot on target. Yet they won, scoring twice and with the opposition missing a late penalty.

When was the last time a game ran for us like that?

This could be the long awaited turning point. Being a sometimes illogically optimistic villa fan I'm gonna say this is the game we will look back and laugh at when we're sitting pretty in the league.
Villa 3 Watford 1.

I don't think either Gestede nor Ayew can play a lone role up front, so we need someone to link the play between Gil and the forward man. Can Gestede and Ayew do a job together against Watford? We also need our best, fit, back four. In the middle, Sanchez, Veretout and Gana.
We'll either win this by the odd goal, or lose.

If we score early I think we might give them a bollocking. Adama has to be involved at the weekend.

Whenever i've seen Vardy's goals for Leicester, a few of them have involved him running through the middle and outpacing the other team's defence. I wonder if that's something Traore could do, rather than sticking him out wide and relying on him to get crosses over?

I'm going to get shot here but how about Traore one side, Ayew the other and errrr Gabby through the middle. Veretout, Gueye and Sanchez midfield 3 and back 4 of Okore, Clark, Richards and Hutton?

Yeah it's Gabby again but i'm completely out of ideas for the centre forward position. Ayew is wasted their, Gestede is a carthorse. Saturday might be one of Gabbys 2 games a season where he turns up.
