Can we now start speculating about the Summer transfer window.

I'm not sure I know enough about players from Serie C or the Dutch Second Division to make any useful contribution to such speculation.

Yes.  We didn't sign the striker we needed and that's f##ked us all season long.

Oh, I thought you said dissecting the summer transfer window.

You're right, ViD, the second we sold Benteke, and didn't replace adequately, we were in trouble.
We bought Gested, but he is a totally different type of centre forward. He requires balls to be crossed into the box and we haven't got that type of player either.
We bought a shed load of strangers, then expected them to form a coherent unit after selling our two best players who, arguably, would have been the difference.

Thing is with Gestede, having a bloke who can head the ball is insufficient in the PL, even if he does it very well (which he doesn't). As Darren Bent found out, the game's strikers need several strings to their bow.
That is why, IMHO, Sherwood was so naive bringing in our current CF.

You omit Nigel that on top of all that the incoming players far from being integrated into the squad walked into hostility from the manager and in place trouble makers loyal to Sherwood.  The myth took a hold that our problems were caused by inferior French players but they were never the problem.

Very true, and I do agree.
But it would have been nice to have a couple of players to pluck the single string in the first place.
Bent had them, and it work quite nicely, then they were sold, and not replaced adequately, too, and he was hung out to dry.

Very good point, Brian

The FA have completely fucked us. Surely we can appeal again on the basis the panel had conflicting interests.

Going back to the keeper. Was it just his lack of senior caps that stopped it going through or his lack of national caps at every level?

From the looks of the report that was posted it was nothing like that, it was that the panel decided he wasn't good enough on the basis that he didn't play in a good enough league.

If that's the case, the like of Seamus Coleman shouldn't have been allowed to join Everton.

I have a growing and totally irrational feeling that we might have dodged a bullet with that keeper.

I think Bunn will be fine for the championship if it comes to it. I think's he's done ok since he's been in.

comes to something when a FA committee knows better about the quality of a player than even our scouting network and transfer committee combined

will the day come when a Motoring association can block my purchase of a Russian  Lada on the basis that it  could not compete with Audis and Mercedes for space on our roads?

Oh and looking at that list of FA committee names, it's no wonder FA cup Final tickets are in such short supply

Me too.  Silly point, hold my hand up, but like others before him who have done okay for us like Barry Hole, his name detracts from his actual ability.
