One target. That's poor.

I hear John terry is up for sale.
Not necessarily him, but there could be all sorts up for grabs tomorrow.

One target. That's poor.

If it's Debuchy then it's a complete waste of time and money. He'll be gone in 14 games and we won't be staying up anyway so there's no point giving Arsenal money and paying his wages, he will make virtually no difference on his own.

It was Doumbia I was referring to, although Debuchy does seem to be the 'see, we can still attract players' banker. Newcastle are spending like a weekend dad and Doumbia will be kicking around the foothills of the table until May, but how gutting is it that our one target decides after all the work we put in will be playing for that lot? I hope they get Berahino too so he has to mither around on the sub's bench.

I just think Lerner is trying to pay out as little as possible as he bides his time for a buyer. For all the written off loans, the fact is there have been titanic TV deals before the one coming up, and we've practically spent peanuts. I'm convinced there won't be huge amounts spent on a rebuild because it's not going to be worth his while.
Were a rapidly depreciating asset that he holds no interest in. For his and our sakes he needs to move us on and just take the financial hit. It's our only way back, otherwise we'll continue in the downward spiral of cost cutting we've been locked in.

You're completely right; however, the buyer, as ever, needs to be the right one. The dilemma would be, do we want to stay as a Lerner asset until another billionaire comes along, or would an enthustastic but relatively cash-strapped buyer be better?
I'll take anyone who is enthusiastic and engaged over the current brain donor owner...

It takes more than enthusiastic and engaged.  It takes some intelligence and thought behind it to.

It was blind, reckless, enthusiasm that sowed the seeds for the last 5 years.  It's not that we've been badly run for 5 years, we've been badly run for nigh on ten. It was just the shiny sparkle of burning £50 notes distracted everyone until Lerner realised he probably shouldn't burn quite so many so quickly.

Doumbia turned us down for Newcastle after advanced talks and us offering Roma more money

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/12132866/Seydou-Doumbia-snubs-Aston-Villa-to-join-Newcastle-United-until-end-of-season.html

But I thought we weren't signing players because we offer peanuts.

We've been after 3 players that we know of, i'd fancy there's a few more we've made serious enquiries about.

As for Debuchy, as it seems highly unlikely we're signing much else i'd bin him. Not sure what the deadline is to play tomorrow but i'd have thought he won't be signed in time, he can't play against Arsenal so that's 13 games he can play. Sod paying the rumoured amounts for that.

A right back with a keeper and a striker would be fine. A full back on his own is a waste of time. Save the money until summer and spend it on a permanent replacement for Hutton.

Pass Debuchy! No point in doing any silly business. We have a couple of games   now for decision as we are getting close to all but confirmation so we need to reduce rather than take on burden.

Is he better than we have - yes
Does the manager want him - yes
Will he cost a lot of money - no
Will he stabilise the defence - hopefully
Will he improve us - hopefully
Is it value for money - based on above, yes
What...a right back? I doubt very much if he will  have enough impact at all on our results to dramatically change the equation. If he were to join us as permy  yes loan till the end of season total waste.

Kendrick seems to think the idea to bring in a keeper has been binned and tomorrow's efforts are all on a striker. I have to admit that it would have to be something bloody spectacular to rescue what has been a complete nothing of an attempt at survival.

I doubt we'd have much change from a couple of million if we signed Debuchy on loan, for 13 games, that's a lot of money.

2.4 million is what's been reported, which is far too much for 13 games in that position.

Peanuts is a convenient snack packet to be opened when cheap shot is required towards the Club.

Not a bad guesstimate then! I assume that includes wages?

Sunderland want Micah Richards but we've rejected the initial offer.

The people running the place really are dumb. He's shit, why are we keeping him?
