Why are we the new Sheffield Wednesday? Didn't they have crippling financial problems?

Lerner's lost interest completely, he'll want his money back, he won't get it back in any sale now, he'll take any money out of the club he can until he feels he's near even, then sell to whoever will pony up the cash. I don't trust him or anyone he's appointed at board level. He's going to fuck us over. For all the custodian bullshit he's spouted in the past. His actions have been completely contrary to those of a good custodian. This is going to end badly
Even if he doesn't do that, we might be stable now, but what about 2-3 years? We're awful enough to double drop without a significant change in our approach. We're not going down with a noose on our necks like Leeds did, or Portsmouth, but we have to be careful. I wouldn't trust Randy to look after a bag of chocolate coins the daft fucker.

What are basing those assumptions on?

6 years of ineptitude.
So I'm really hoping Hollis knows what he's doing.

That's a separate point. He says we're going to be Sheffield Wednesday because Lerner plans to drain money out of the club, when he's done nothing in those six years to suggest that's his intention, so I was wondering what this was based on.

Well I don't think he'll do that. Lerner might deny it but he's spent 5 years getting us financially ready for the drop. We'll be okay...at first.

That would imply that being relegated is part of an intentional plan, which would be nonsense.

A similar case would be probably teams like Fulham, Blackburn and Bolton.

Yes I know we're bigger than them so don't want to get involved in that debate but the fact is all those were stable teams in the prem, all got taken over and gradually the spending stopped, their first 11s got worse and they all dropped and none of them have got back to the prem or even looked like getting back up.

Probably Fulham is the best comparison since Al Fayed sold up and Khan took over.

I no longer have any faith in the man to do the right thing. He's specifically stated he wants out, but his actions in the preceding time screamed that anyway. I don't think he'll just cut his loses and sell, he's systematically raped the playing squad over the last five years to stabilise the finances and look at the cost. He's all ready taken a very hefty financial blow with the divorce,I don't think he's got the appetite to repeat that with Villa if he did he would have sold us at a loss. He's going to look to claw back what he can.

We'll be going down but not as a Portsmouth, Leeds or QPR. Nothing we do now will change that.

West Ham & Newcastle have been down & come back. If we do our business correctly in the summer, we'll have every chance of doing the same.

Whatever Lerner does he'll never get his money back, the only way of getting anything near it is by getting us back up to the Premier League & finding some stability.

A similar case would be Newcastle. Dip shit owner who spunked a load of money, without any coherent plan, big club, went down, kept their players whod been so inferior in the top flight and brassed the league up.

The warning is what happened after the came back up, as bar one decent season, they've been circling the bowl. Lerner must go if we are not to repeat this nonsense in a few years time.

but he'll only go if someone wants to buy - and no one does at the price he wants.

When they went down Ashley gambled and kept Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Nolan and Barton. Those four together with an emerging Andy Carroll were the spine.

It's impossible to predict how we'll do tbh until we see what sort of squad we'll have down there.
