I do not think Garde will be palmed off without the support to construct a competitive squad.
If he walks between now and next season we should be very worried indeed.

It is a worry that he could walk out of the club if he's not backed this January. I can't imagine he took the job with the condition he'd have nothing to spend in the transfer window.
I think the Norwich Watford games were game changers and they have decided to stick not twist. The question is will he be backed in the summer, if not then we will be in free fall .

Call me a cynic but I wouldn't be surprised if they had no plans to spend anyway other than a couple of bargain basement/loans. Those games you mentioned could be the convenient excuse.

They also put any one with any ambition off.
I would feel a bit better if the clear out had started though.

Not getting players in whilst still trying to get players off the wage bill looks to be the agenda. This is bloody Aston Villa not some small club with barely any supporters, the hierarchy just keep sending out all of the wrong signals.

If we don't get anyone one in then today will keep happening , no players will show board given up , the fans have mostly given up the players who are already in some cases not good enough will not have it in them to keep going out and drying to get results.

Whilst perhaps there is merit in not overspending in our position ,just giving up with 15 games to go will see us go into a tailspin of loss's and will take us months to recover from next season.

Premier league clubs never get rejected for work permits.
Not only PL clubs but any professional club with good management should never find themselves in this position. The trick is to know what you are doing and do not embarrass yourself in the first place by trying to sign a player where permit is going to be an issue. It's called diligence and rigour in doing your job.

This could be a terminal decline, we'll spend nothing in the summer due to the financial realities of being relegated, will not be promoted then cut budgets again and again until we're not competitive in the championship, then cut some more. We're screwed until Custodian Calamity is gone. I'll take anyone over the stupid American buffoon right now. To those who say we may end up with asset strippers, I'll say we've been systematically and efficiently asset stripped by the turd over the last five years.

We've signed 3 players from other Premier league clubs the last 4 years. One is 33 and his legs have gone and cost nothing. One hasn't played consistently for nearly 5 years and cost nothing and the other hasn't played consistently for nearly 5 years too and cost a couple of million. Tells a damning story.

We just don't buy Premier League standard players anymore and that's the cause of our decline in a nutshell.

Couple in we signed Veretout from a team that finished 14th in the French league and only scored 29 goals.
Ayew from a team that finished 16th in the French league.
Amavi from a team that finished 11th in the French league .
Gueye from a team that finished 8th in the French league.
Crespo from a team that finished rock bottom and conceded 68 goals.
Gestede from a mid table Championship side.

We we're not even raiding the better sides from the French league, we picked from the mid to lower half sides. Stupidity and more money spunked all over the place.

I assume Gueye was mainly used as a sub in this top 8 outfit?

No, he played most of the games for a mid table side in what's generally considered a pretty weak league minus the top couple of teams.

Gueye had a shocker today, granted, and we are all sick of this shit. But I hate all this reactionary stuff. He has been great over recent games and our best player. Why bin him off after today? In a normal season, you just say he had a bad game and move on.

Garde reckons we are going to get a striker.
