Any player with ambition is going to be reluctant to sign for us and past mistakes mean that we are not going to pay over the odds for those looking for one last pay day. So we are looking at potential or loans.

It's probably the sensible approach for the long term but a depressing one for the here and now.

Presumably the whole first team, as I'm not sure we need to worry about replacing the impact that the likes of N'Zogbia and Richardson currently have on our performances.

And it's worth remembering that players a lot of us don't rate like Cissokho, Hutton, Westwood, Gestede etc will be fine at that level. A lot think Gestede is our worst player, a lot will also say that a big reason Newcastle strolled the division last time they were down was because of Carroll. Gestede scored more goals last season for a mid table Championship side than Carroll did for a side that pissed the league racking up over 100 points.
