Although he's not doing as well as they'd like, Benteke is still their top scorer so far this season. I'd be very surprised if they let him go anywhere this window.

Overall or in the league ?

Both.

Some clown called Jonny Gould (whoever he is) reckons Liverpool only signed him based on his form at the back end of last season. How do these people get jobs in journalism?

Is that the Jonny Gould who was involved with VFC and is a big mate of Howard Hodgson?

One would have thought that if there was any possibility of it happening (which there simply isn't) it would have been a negotiating tool when we were in discussion re sending back that centre-half the other month? You know, "We need a forward; you need a centre-half. Give us Benteke, we'll pay his wages, and job's a good 'un".

Madness to think there's any legs in it.

But hey he wrote a report on how to save Villa.  The conclusions were something like 'appoint a good manager, buy better players, adopt better tactics and develop the youth'  It was mind blowing stuff.

Apparently Newcastle are in talks for Remy too. Sign him and Townsend to go with Gru they will have some decent options.  Shame they have a complete bottler as a manager.

Townsend for 12m is the sort of business that would have had people up in arms on here though.

They'll probably stay up. I expect Norwich and Bournemouth to have a difficult end to the season when their puff runs out, and if we've any hope of surviving it's one of them we need to catch. That said catching one might not be enough. If we do stay up it'll probably be the most astounding achievement in our history given the circumstances and probably the greatest relegation escape seen since football began (1992)

And if all that spunking of cash doesn't keep them up, they're fucked.
Which would obviously be hilarious.

Too right. He'd be like an expensive Scott Sinclair.

Receive the ball out wide.

Cut in and shoot.

Repeat.
