It'd never happen.

We wouldn't be able to afford his wages, he would be too proud to come back here, and if he were moving, he'd have plenty of offers.

Liverpool was definitely a bad move for him, though.

And he'll never displace Gestede.
Well, who would?
Thats true.

He wouldn't  be happy about being behind Gabby, Kozak, Gestede and not forgetting Sinclair in the competitive joust for first team action.

Benteke was a bit of a sulker when we had some decent players, got knows how he'd react to playing with this shower.

In fact that's just got me thinking, is it wrong to want us to sign Ciro Immobile just so his name can appear next to Gestede on a team sheet?

That's just wicked!

I still want Big Ben, though.

Is it going to be a repeat of the summer when it comes to goalkeepers?  Have one target then just give up on the idea when it doesn't come off.

Isn't this one 2nd choice or even 3rd or was that just media speculation.

Mandanda was clearly first choice. This guy must have been second.

I still can't believe they are not trying to find a way round that.

Who would have said he'd sign a contract extension in the summer of 2013? Stranger things have happened.

If you're still talking about the Croatian then there's definitely more to it then we know. he won't have failed a work permit appeal after an application as he wouldn't need one. So, unless there is some doubt about his nationality or how he got his nationality, there must be something seriously dodgy in his or a member of his families application to join him.

Or, he just didn't want to come or we pulled the plug. Which is most likely.

As for being able to afford CB a loan move to us would be self financing.  Suppose we pay him, what, £1.5 million in wages. We would get half of that back from increased ticket sales by the end of the season. Plus peripheral increased shirt and shop merchandise sales generated by the publicity. Add to that the televised game income generated by the companies wanting to follow the "Ben Comes Home" story and the money is assured.  Some knowledgeable poster like PWS will also tell us if there is any financial advantage from not finishing rock bottom of the heap.
The alternative of shelling out two or three million for some clapped out old donkey looking for a final easy slurp of gravy brings the likes of Adebeyor to mind who we came within a medical of signing on £150,000 a week and chauffeuring him to training from London.
Compared to that madness the persuasion of Benteke back into the fold for twelve weeks makes excellent financial sense however slight it might be.

But it won't happen.

Why would Liverpool, whop are short of strikers, let their £32.5m signing go? Especially as they are chasing top 4 - however remote that may be. yes things are not working out for him but Liverpool won't just release him on loan. It's absurd to even contemplate such a move and the rationale behind it for them.

Would he come? maybe, maybe not. If he ends playing with crap players who give him very little service how does that help him before the Euros?
Yes, anyone can make a hypothetical case for him joining but the reality is that it makes no sense for Liverpool, and more of a risk for Benteke than staying put and trying to turn it around with better players at a club that isn't a shambles.

they are looking to offload someone they haven't even finished paying for?

Sounds like a bad case of payday loans management

Brian I am not that certain that Benteke would reproduce his early form with us especially as we do not have anyone capable of feeding him.
He has looked very confused at Liverpool totally out of place yet although he is better than anyone else we could get I don't see him scoring the goals we need his movement is very poor at times. ... Waiting to be shot down.
