It's not just about spending money, it's about attracting players to a club who are 10 points adrift at the bottom. That's the big stumbling block people keep over looking.

Getting players such as Alex Iwobi and Patrick Bamford in would be a start.
We don't have to go out and buy players on stupid contracts.
They could at least show some gumption in the window.
First thing they should do is tell Debuchy to fuck off.

It's more of an ignoring thing than an overlooking thing, I'd say.

Well, there is that.

I'm inclined now to agree about Debuchy. We can't be sitting around at his bidding, waiting to decide if he's ready to lower himself and play for Aston Villa. I'd be looking at up and coming right backs from the Championship and abroad and approaching them with a view to next season too, hopefully that's what they are doing.

I don't think that telling potential new-arrivals to fuck off will help bring players in.

I can kind of see his point though. Debuchy's keeping his options open which is fair enough but it's not doing us any favours really.

Debuchy is having us over, why you would want a player who clearly doesn't want to come is beyond me.

Apologies for being too lazy to read the early pages, but have we been linked to Bamford?
I was chatting to a  Boro fan recently and he thinks Bamford is excellent.  I thnk he is also a reasonably realistic target considering he has played most of his football in the Championship - so does not think it is below him - plus is unlikely to get a game a Chelsea.  His failure at Palace would probably scare off most other Prem clubs too.

Why do they turn down work permits for players who haven't played 75% of international games? Guzan never did, how did he get one? There's probably hundreds of players playing over here who aren't in the national team. Bacuna's another. Are they saying that technically only one Croatian keeper can play over here and it's the national keeper.

So far, we have got rid of Cole on a free. Anybody else gone for definite?
I know we have several players out on loan till the end of the season, any of them out of contract at the end of the season?
Is Sinclair going?

Answers please on post cards to Messrs Lerner,Fox and Hollis.

Joking apart, can someone supply me the answers to the above?

Bacuna's from Holland so doesn't need a work permit.

Still tumbleweed blowing through here then. FFS, inaction, prevarication, and disinterest seems hardwired into the club's DNA.

You can't expect the club to attempt to buy our way out of trouble when we're staring relegation in the face. It's only our pride and our Premier League status at risk after all.

Serious question SH - where is the money going to come from, who is going to pay the wages for players to come in our position as they are likely to be highly inflated, how are you going to convince the player to sign here and not elsewhere, and who is going to fund their wages when we go down if we still do??

You expect him to answer. Be a first.

Of course  not. But you live in hope.

I'd like our glorious owner to spend a few quid this January. Where did you think the money would come from, did you really not know?

How much on transfers?
How much on wages?
Who should be purchased on that budget?
How many players should we get rid of before the above happens?
What could be the consequences on FFP rules in the event the worst happens?

Guzan originally was turned down IIRC, we ended up going back in for him a season after we originally tried.

Bacuna, like anybody else in the EU can move and work freely (feel free to insert your own gag). Apparently because Croatia is a new(ish) member, there are still restrictions on working abroad in place.

Regarding Bamford, not really linked. Ideal for us though.
I'm an optimist but we're down, so plan for next season.
Get on the phone, use your contacts now.
Just do something, not doing anything isn't an option.
