I'd have thought players going out on short term loans are more interested in playing games then ending up at clubs higher up the league, and call me a cynic if you like but I'd hope it wasn't anything to do with us not offering the going rate in wages. It wouldn't be the first time we've missed out on players because of our infatuation of keeping the wage bill down.
Paying 1.2m for Debuchy is not going to keep the wage bill down.

I think it has been because Garde has tried to target good players, that will have better options at the moment.

he played centre half against Southampton in the league cup too didn't he.

Useful enough squad player in the Championship.

I would think there will be a defender or 2 incoming with Ilori, Crespo and Bennett all going back out and Amavi out injured.

Swansea are now in for Sane apparently.

Also Senderos has not been reintegrated like Cissokho has so assumably he'll be off or left out of the 25 again.  With Steer, Cole and Gardner gone/loaned also there is room for 3/4 incomers now I would think.

Players going out on loan are still going to be thinking about the environment that they're going into.

On top of the high probability of being associated with a relegation, there's also the not inconsiderable issue of the fact that there have been obvious problems in the dressing room, albeit looking better now.

If I was a player and I'd got the choice between signing for us now or waiting a week to see if I can rustle up a better offer, I'd sit tight. If I'd been asked at the start of January I'd have laughed.

Oh and "Cynic"  8)

I don't have an informed opinion about Crespo one way or the other given what very little I saw of him. He had a cracking beard though.

Him and Richards were at sea for Stoke's winner. Made bugger-all impression otherwise.

This is it and it's quite simple and understandable really.

We'd like to think so. Sadly the last 5 years of scrimping and saving and limited budgets suggests it's the same old problems.

So after Coopers you're now going to quote everything saunders says with the routine 'same old posts' mantra?

I don't agree with s-h as it is but your patronising tone is a bit repetitive. If you have a point in the argument then fair enough. S-H has his. I think that's the simple bit.

Actually you're probably right with that.

I apologise if I'm being repetitive about S_H being repetitive.

Not too sure what you mean by 'after Coopers'  but to save everyone reading another row, explain to me on pm.

You did the same with Coopers Injury (or whatever his new name was). Anyway, back to transfers...or not...

I think the players having better options, or at least hoping for them, makes perfect sense. Look at the interview with Debuchy he was clearly saying he hopes something better is offered to him, but he wanted to keep the Villa option open.
