No striker good enough to be worth  £15 million is going to want to sign for a seemingly-doomed side.

I hope to be wrong, but I think it's going to be a few seasons before we spend £10m again.

Talking about strikers and Indians, in between Damon's helicopter rides, we saw a bloody good striker playing for Ashton United against Sutton Coldfield. Very strong and wiry, quick with two good feet. Got at least two goals in the game possibly three. Desmond kept blowing my glasses off. Trouble is I asked his age and he is 29.  Perfect Indian material available for a bag of beads and a bottle of Bells.

Debuchy doesn't exactly sound desperate to come here. I hope he does, as he'd be a really useful addition. But for me the priority is a striker then a goalkeeper.

This sounds a bit more positive, from Debuchy ( Metro a couple of hours ago):
‘Even if they are currently in trouble, Aston Villa is one of the great English clubs.
‘It is also for that reason that I do not rule out this option. I have also spoken to the coach [Remi Garde] on the phone. That went well.’

As in, the Indians are the stock, hard workers but we need more force in there? Presumably. Bunn is doing ok for now so keeper maybe no longer the priority? Replace Westwood and get a forward in are the priorities for me. We do seem to have turned a corner imo.

I still think we need a new keeper and that would be the only the permanent signing I would look to make (the Croatian keeper sounds promising).  I agree that we need to replace Westwood in the current formation and need a striker.  I think the only chance we have of getting in the type of quality players we need is on loan, so would go down that route.  As much as we need a new RB, I just think bringing one in on loan now would be a waste as there are much more pressing needs if we are going to start winning games on a regular basis.

Shelvey pulling strings would have taken him.
Gomis Swansea would be decent.
Gk could look at dutch gk stekleberg who will need game time in fact a couple of loans from Southampton in the gk and Shane long as charlie auysyin signed would be okay
Bring Osman and Remy be decent enough

I don't see how debuchy is an odd signing. He should be comfortably better than any of the right backs we have

He is 30, why are we attempting to sign old players again?
He may be better than what we have, although Richards is just as good in my opinion but we have more pressing concerns than right back than using up a loan option.
It is very, so what!

Not from what I've seen RB's are dire at Villa, possibly one of our weakest areas and thats saying something.

We've conceded a lot of goals from the right back position this season. I would guess at around 6 or 7 with little more than half the season gone. Getting a competent right back would probably have a similar effect on the points column as replacing Gestede with a more polished striker. Not  that I am suggesting it should be one or the other.

Arsenal saw fit to pay Newcastle 10 mill two years ago. That's not always a guarantee of quality but to get a few months out of him for a modest loan fee seems a smart move.

More importantly, you can never have enough Debauchery.

Premier League Loan Rules:

Premier League rules limit clubs to just two season-long domestic loans but international deals are, essentially, limitless.
League regulations also say that no side can have more than one domestic loan from the same club.
Any acquisitions would have to keep clubs in line with the quota of having a minimum of eight home grown players in their 25 man squads.

Therefore if we get Debuchy we can only get one other loan domestic signing and not from Arsenal!

Considering that a lot of our play going forward is from the fullbacks it would make sense to bring in a better right back that can use the ball better.  There is too much hesitancy in Bacuna's play which sees him stop turn and play the ball back which breaks up any momentum we have at the time.  I think Garde is reluctant to play Richards there just in case Okore gets injured and is nursing the two of them to keep at least one of them fit.

If we are going to make one signing for the future, goalkeeper would make sense.  Loans for the rest of the positions (CD, CM and forward) until the end of the season would make most sense as we will probably be able to get a higher calibre of player.

Does getting rid of Ilore free up a space or does he still count because we used a loan pick on him?

You can only have two from the PL at any one time so we're now allowed two as long as they're not from the same club.

Debuchy & Inler seem plausible I guess.
