Frees up Shane Long to join us.

The thought did cross my mind. We could do worse.
BBC Gossip thing linking Long with 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' this morning.

Newcastle are going mental.  The BEEB just said they are lining up a bid for Townsend.  Why would he go there? :o

4 million and yet we're nowhere to be seen.  Farce.

And how do you know that?

We are bottom of the table, seven points off the next team, eight off safety. We have a chump of an owner who has just employed an axe wielding chairman and we struggle against teams like Wycombe. That's how I know we are a farce.

As for the Charlie Austin to Southampton link that's what The Telegraph are reporting.

Sorry, have you got two usernames then?

The point I was making was how do we know we haven't tried to sign him, only to be told no thanks because he's clearly got better offers on the table.

Your subsequent rant explains why that would be the case.

Sorry if you want a private conversation with a board member try sending them a message.

God knows if we were or not after Austin. Being bottom of the table means we have got to work harder than other clubs to sign players. It does stick in the craw a bit when we are half way through January and have signed nobody when we desperately need quality players, especially a striker like Charlie Austin.

I agree, but short of kidnapping players we've got to accept we are where we are, and players are going to maybe look at better options before committing to us.

The business we do will more likely be at the end of the window when some options have dried up for our targets.

Did people not say the same thing about Defoe?  Wouldn't want to leave the south or London?

Are Newcastle ever going to sign any defenders? Everytime I watch them their back 4 is useless against pace and counter attack.

There was a rumour he would not go out of London wasn't there.

Long would be a decent signing for us but he will get better offers

He is Arry's secret son that's why he wants to go to the South Coast!

Think they need attacking players more.  Like us they make silly errors, but actually if you watch their games against the likes of Man Utd and Everton they are pretty well set up, its just that over the course of a game they are punished for not creating enough or for sloppy mistakes.

Long might be, and would do a job in the Championship.  If we play the attackers we played Tuesday for most of the games we might be alright up front, maybe a poucher would be good.

There is probably no option.
