Tie that in with the comments elsewhere that the Football league leaned on clubs to help Manure during their time of need perhaps we should be viewed in a similar light.

When was that?
1958?
I'd assume so - when Villa's Stan Crowther made history

A lot of clubs came to the aid of Man Utd after the Munich disaster, in the form of lending players to them so they could fulfil there fixtures

Is it right that there was a conspiracy to stop Arsenal being relegated a century or so ago?

Yes, look up Henry Norris.

Quote
Norris's most infamous contribution to Arsenal's history was his role in the club's promotion from the Second Division to the First in 1919. Arsenal were elected to the top flight in spite of only finishing fifth the previous season (1914-15, as competition had been suspended for most of World War I). This promotion came at the expense of other clubs, most notably Arsenal's arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. It has been alleged that Norris bribed or in some way unduly influenced the voting members of the Football League, in particular the league chairman and owner of Liverpool, John McKenna;[8][9] at the League's AGM, McKenna made a speech recommending Arsenal's promotional ahead of Spurs thanks to the former's longer spell in the League (Arsenal joined in 1893, Spurs in 1908. Although Preston North End & Wolves, who both finished ahead of Arsenal, had been members of the league longer than Arsenal, Wolves since its inception in 1888.[8] Although no firm proof has ever been offered, Norris's other activities, including the scandal that led to his downfall, are often cited as circumstantial evidence.

Swansea want Sinclair for £2 million apparently. What did we pay? Surely he is worth 4-5m in a world where a 28 year old Grabban is worth 7m?!??!

Anyhow, unless they are giving us Montero in a straight swap, they can do one. Sinclair has been poor and anonymous but there is no point selling a player to a rival that might benefit, or indeed that would do well for us when we go down.

Can't stand Sinclair, he'd be first out of the door in the summer for me.

He works the line well , there are more worthy candidates for derision.

I think the only time Sinclair works the line well is when he's running up and down it as a sub.  In all fairness, I don't think he is a central striker and he is more suited to playing out wide.  I would listen to any offers put in for him though.

Good research there, and provides an extra reason to hate both Arsenal AND Liverpool. Excellent stuff.

If we can push Swansea up to £3m I'd be selling him like a shot, a lifestyle player and I can't imagine him being much in the dressing room. Get him out, wages off the bill and someone else in.

I wouldn't sell any of our players to a relegation rival. Don't care how shit he is for us, but if we're gonna sell him sell him when the season finishes and not now.

I'd enquire if they fancy another goalkeeper as well.

Sinclair is a strange one, there's times he looks gash but he has scored 9 in in 31 games for us, 23 starts. Which isn't bad at all for a player that isn't a striker.

Mainly in cups though isn't it?

He is a strange one. In a formation like last night in the wider role off Kozak he should thrive but he very rarely runs at players and gives the ball away a lot. Frustrating player. Wages might be an issue if we go down, but sell in the summer if that is the case.
