Incredible to think his predecessor was Brad Jones who now is number 2 at Bradford.

Probably two of the worst keepers I've seen play in the premier league.

Gomes the Watford 'keeper and the joker who took his place when he got injured against us back in November run them pretty close.

Gomes is a decent shot stopper in fairness to him. Poor at most other things but does make saves that I don't think Guzan doors at times.

the 'whos bothered or less bothered' debate is more interesting than anything happening in the Villa transfer market at the moment

So its January 8th.

My fantasy that the club were desperately waiting for the window to open to really go big on player aquisitions, which they had been negotiating over all December to make sure we hit January running was wrong then. Again.

I didnt think there was much emotion left, but I am angry again.

If this is the case, this would suggest no effort is being made to attempt the recruitment required to attempt the miracle. Our gormless custodian has given up. This meek acceptance of the inevitable bodes ill, I expect a poorly planned campaign next season, with a shoestring budget by championship standards and player additions who are the young, hungry cream of the conference

Perhaps Remi Garde is such a good manager that he does not want another Bomb Squad. Perhaps he wants everybody who puts on the shirt to be one hundred percent committed to the club and those who are not to be removed from the club as soon as possible.  Perhaps Remi Garde's first request for funding is to pay off contracts and cut out the rotten core of the squad.

The rotten core of the squad? I think 90% of our squad (if not more) is rotten. If what you say is true he's got one hell of a job on his hands.

Well done Brian i agree entirely, and i think that Remi Garde is now taking his lead from the Narvik debate in 1940 when Leo Amery MP quoted Oliver Cromwell from over 300 years before.

Many times this house found itself at the mercy of prince Ruperts Cavilers in battle, Cromwell spoke with John Hampden and said
" Your men are mostly old, decayed serving fellows and tapsters and such types of fellows, you must get men of spirit that are likely to go as far as they can or you will be beaten still"

Cromwell later addressed the long parliament and said

"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. depart i say, let us have done with you, In the name of god go"

Interesting - we could use more of this religious fundamentalist approach using a highly conservative faith to justify acts of violent psycopathy*. We'd certainly lose less!

*One post-modern reading of Oliver Cromwell, others are available.

Probably two of the worst keepers I've seen play in the premier league.

And Jones played a couple of games at Bradford, was poor and so was dropped. He got fed up with being number 2 and has now joined a team in I think Holland or Denmark.

I've got a couple of mates watching tonight’s match with me and one of them - a Scouser - reckons that the only reason Benteke is playing in a team of stiffs tonight is to cup tie him prior to him being sent on loan to us.
Fanciful I know, but my mate goes to most of their home games and says that the big man just doesn't fit into Klopp's style of play and maybe he'll come back here till the end of the season and then Klopp will try to sell him off to another club.
Pure speculation I know but it's in the thread title. And stranger things have happened.
My boss goes Liverpool often and Benteke is not very popular amongst the fans. Even though he's still scoring, I think 6 in 12 and that includes coming off the bench, they say he's brainless and does not work hard. They also say he's making mistakes in silly areas and does not get into good positions.

I'd love him back for half the season. I think we're down but if we can go down fighting ready for next season it would make a big difference for next season.
