I agree with keeping those six.  I'd like to keep Gil, too.  He's one of our most creative players, packs a decent shot, can score the occasional stunning goal, but he's lightweight and I'm not sure what his best position is.  Bit like Shaun Maloney.  But I suspect he won't stick around for the Championship and he'll be off.

Agree Paul, but I'm not sure any of the managers he's had have employed him properly yet.  I see him as a 'number 10' type player, but the managers he's had seem to want to play him out wide, which I don't think suits him at all.

Forgot him too.

Wenger had said there is nothing to really report on Debuchy

Wenger said he'd had no contact with anyone, which was a bit strange as Garde said he'd spoken to him in his press conference yesterday.

Someone's telling porkies then. Not sure a right back is priority myself, considering we have Richards that can play there, Hutton is not great but better than some in the team and we haven't even tried Crespo there yet.
No but if we could get someone of the quality of Debuchy.....

Gil is pure talent we need to keep him and develop him.

I would be very bothered if we got a few more points than the record low and it was regarded as some sort of achievement IF WHILE THAT WAS HAPPENING Remi Garde walked and our nucleus of best players was lost and we were left only with the piss takers and Pearson on a short list of one.

Of course the points total is important but my personal view is that there are far bigger problems to resolve.

I think our best interest is served  by Remi staying and we must ensure he does. Having said that I am concerned about hit statements on Remy and Debuchy. Hiddink has a go at him and today Wenger said that no o e has been in touch with him.

Agree, but I want to see him play further up the field.  A lot of the work he does at the moment is in areas where he won't hurt teams.

I think that's down to poor organisation from management and lack of a decent focal point up front that a player like Gil can get close to and play off.
We also don't have enough quality to pick out floating players like Gil effectively and thus they end up dropping deeper and deeper to get in the game.

Just seen Jermaine Jenas has announced his retirement, thought it was an old webpage.

Honestly don't think we will sign anyone before the window shuts, unless it's a panic buy on the last day. Also believe that we will not lose anyone from our current squad, before the end of the season.

anyway its not in our hands its in the players hands and we have zero influence over it so why be bothered by it?

It's a good point, but it does kind of beg the question why you bother supporting a football club at all, let alone post on a mesage board about one...??

there is thing called freedom of speech and having an opinion

i have a st and have followed the villa for 40 years and will say what i like

dont start with i am a better fan than yow because what i say is right and what yow say isnt

you are bothered by our points totatl and im not, so what?

Bizarre. I don't even know where to start. I'm not for a second claiming to be a "better an" than anyone, i just can't understand the point you trying to make? To clarify, you're asking me why the demise of the football club that I support and love bothers me, right....?

No

The snidey why do you bother supporting a club and posting because I said I wasn't bothered by our points total

I didn't read it as snidey for what it's worth.  You said you're not going to be bothered by what you can't control, to which he said "fair point but doesn't that undermine supporting football generally" or something, which to be fair is a decent point.

I thought he retired the moment he rocked up at Villa Park to be honest.

Completely agree with the assessment of Gil. He's one of our few players who can make space for himself when on the ball so he should be used centrally if he's going to play.

He must have received the ball centrally about 7 or 8 times at the weekend and was brushes straight off it. He is very skilful and I think can finish well but rarely plays a killer pass usually due to bring to deep. It might be with giving him a shot right up to alongside Ayew in a Beardsley type role.

the 'whos bothered or less bothered' debate is more interesting than anything happening in the Villa transfer market at the moment

That bothers me.
