I go home and away with sons and grandson. I am usually on the shortest trip on 220 miles except for London games. None of us give a monkey's any more about lowest total points in the Premiership. It is all far more serious and deep rooted than that.

Saying the number of points we get is a major factor in our plans for the future is like the old cliché that we hated Alex McLeish because he came from Small Heath.  An irrelevance in the overall scheme of things.

I think some sort of improvement on the pitch is the must have thing though Brian for confidence in Garde and for the players own confidence.  This Haller guy looks a decent striker, latest to be linked.

The away support has been superb. I'm not surprised that we've sold out on Saturday but I'm still impressed and they deserve to see us win a few before the end of the season.

I really don't get this attitude. Are people seriously not bothered about us picking-up a record low points total? I understand that the problems are deeper-rooted than just this season, but to me that kind of attitude goes against everything supporting a sports team is about.

Where has our pride gone? Lets not let Lerner drag us down to his level of apathy.

personally i dont give a shit about our points total

we are getting relegated if we get 8 points or 28 points.

we have broken every shitness record in our history so having the lowest number of points doesnt bother me in the slightest because as fans we can do sod all about it. a bit like fan protests and petitions about the fuckwit learner, good idea but he owns the club so can do as he pleases.

i would have said the only way to hurt him is in the pocket but he doesnt care as he is willing to spunk 100 million in tv money

I don't think it makes any difference being frank. Garde and Fox both will be gone come June. Someone will have to carry the can for this abomination of a season, and rightly or wrongly it will be those two. They're both dead men walking.

Fox might but if we win even 3 or 4 before seasons end Garde will get the start of next season.

D'you think?

Can't see it myself.

It'll be the proverbial 'new broom' for next season - regardless of the noises Fox is making re: long term / "building something special" plans.

To me, we've got 2 options really. Do absolutely everything in our power to pick-up enough points to stay up this season (or at least go down swinging and retaining a bit of pride) or throw the towel in now, rack-up a record low points total, becoming a laughing stock along the way with Garde's reputation as a manager and coach completely run into the ground.

What kind of base is that going to give us to attract new players for the rebuild, regardless of what league we're in?! The players that do stay on will be devoid of confidence, with the 'losing mentality' further embedded into them and supporter apathy will be even greater.

I think we're ll resigned to the fact that we're going to get relegated, but the manner in which we do it from here on-in is a massive thing, in my opinion.

A few people I speak to at games are also of the view 'we are going down and that's that, don't matter how many points we get'. Bizarre in my view and not something I subscribe to. I don't really want to turn up to another 10-15 of our remaining games and see us win none or next to none of them. If we end the season on less than 20 points it will be talked about and remembered by neutrals for years to come, like Derby and Sunderland's sides that did it are. Newspaper articles for years to come, Premier League years on sky (you may laugh now!). If we got something like Wolves got when they last went down (25 points), it would be piss poor yes but no one remembers it really (I only know the total because I'm a Premier League years addict on Sky!)

sheff utd
longest run in our history without a win
15 goals conceded and none scored

being shit for 5 seasons
6 nil at southampton

but if we get to 25 points we wont be a laughing stock?

We are playing for higher stakes than record low points scored or games won. I think Remi Garde is very close to walking. At the moment we have, just about, got some sort of belief that a long term plan is the objective. If Garde goes the future will be Nigel Pearson or somebody as equally blood curdlingly terrifying.

What makes you think that, Brian? Not having a go, it's a genuine question.

We are shit, we have been for 5 years. I'd say not many neutrals remember much on that list other than the top 3 things though.

You're right, it's a damning list. I just don't understand why you're so happy for it to be added to?
