What I've never understood is this cliche that you need players or a manager with Championship experience. What a load of old bollocks, you just need good players and a good manager. The Championship is just a league at a lower level, it doesn't operate in a completely different footballing universe. We have some good players and if we supplement them with some more good players we'll be fine.

You mean we don't need Kevin Doyle & Karl Henry?

While I dont believe everything Nursery says that would be suicidal, I do think we have to start to plan for next season in the Championship now, next season will be an eye opener to everyone. Just hope its Garde buying the players and the other clowns stay well away.

where's Footyskillz when you need him? He'd have an almost inexhaustible list of people who ought to be on Remi's radar, headed no doubt by the one and only JA.

I just think we should be looking at promising young players in France's league 2.

I was thinking the same, just have a look through the Watford squad and spot the good old championship journey man, plus their manager was new to English football.

Sunderland are looking to get 2 centre halves in. Wish we were! I really would love to see Garde take a stance that apart from Okore and maybe Cissokho the back 5 are just not good enough and find replacements.

The difference being that Watford owners have genuine football knowledge.

Why did we scrap the idea of getting a director of football in? There was a song and dance about that and a football chairman but neither have materialised.

Surely in his role of 'Sporting Director', that's Almstadt?

Does he have any formal background? I thought he was a numbers man?

Whether he's suitable for the job or not is a different argument - he's the Director of Football that was spoken about, rather than them not wanting one anymore.

I thought he was something different to a traditional DOF role sorry. Even in a football role then, we essentially have a non football man. Very concerning.
