I happen to think that if we had Crouch instead of Gestede we would have a few more points on the board.
I do agree with a previous poster though it isn't the summer signings (except Gestede) that have been the problem it's the wankers that were bought previously.

Anyone tempted to bring Peter Crouch back? Could surely be a decent striker in the first division.

Depends if he'll take a fairly large paycut. Must still be on 2m per year. He is contracted for 18 months more.

I'd be tempted to just look to offload any of the deadwood, Gabby, NZog, etc if possible and build a war chest that we can identify Summer signings with, that's what's really gonna count.

Not much point breaking the bank on mercenary signings now. 11 points from safety with no wins in 18. Prepared is our motto and that's what we must be for next year - now wouldn't that make a change.

crouch no thanks

yes he could do a job in the championship but then would i want him leading the line in the prem no

we are down now so for me garde needs to blood some of the under 21's and fuck off the shit that got us here in the first place at least they may show a bit of pride

My sentiments entirely, we've been too slow to give the kids a go when the seniors are consistently poor and unfit, I notice yet again yesterday Hutton gave the ball away for the second goal, surely there must be a better option?

my sentiments entirely, the club needs to be rebuilt and has beens like crouch, both coles, senderos, lescott, richardson looking for one last pay day arent the answer

cant comment on after the game yesterday but its also about time we gave some stick to the useless wankers who have contrived to break literally ever negative record in our great clubs history

I think we can look to bring in some players that we think will do well in the Championship, maybe some of that league's current best performers. That way we're not having to sign 10+ players in the same window and them needing time to gel.

On loan until the end of the season - yes.  As for next season, if we are in the Championship then we should be looking at someone with the potential to score the goals we need not only to get us up, but score regularly in the top flight as well.  The lad at Wolves wouldn't be a bad shout.

But surely those current best performers are in teams that are either in for automatic promotion or play offs ? Would they come to a team all but down when there's a chance they'll be playing in the Premier next year.

personally i dont see the point of any loan signings, we need to think longer term

we sign a loan player, he cant help us stop up as we are down, then he leaves at the end of the season and we are back to square one

give traore a run, give hepburn murphy a run cant be worse than justhead

Start the wheels in motion for buying the top players in the teams who don't get promoted at the end of the season and look to play quick attacking football in the championship - the recent teams who have come up do this so I don't think a team full of cloggers is the right answer, although I do think 2 big quick centre backs is an advantage. I'm already discussing with my mate home and away to Leeds..

We can't plan for the longer term next month - that will have to wait until the summer when we know our fate.  A loan signing would be damage limitation until we reach that point.

Depends, if they are young and play for a wanky little club they might think of the longer term prospects. If they are older and playing for someone half decent they'll want to stay, you would imagine.

In terms of loans, no way. Now is the time more than ever to play our own, to build up experience, understanding on the pitch and partnerships. What would be the point of loaning Loic Remy and playing him up front with Ayew only for him to fuck off at the end of the season and us have to spend potentially 2-3 months getting to know who to play Ayew with out of Gestede and Sinclair? I would certainly hope those 3 would be around at least for the first season in the Championship.

A decent loan would help repair and maintain motivation for the remainder of the year and provide some momentum for the following season too.

The transfer window had changed in the last couple of weeks
If we were 6 points or so of safety, then go out and try and bring in a striker to give us a chance of staying up

As we are 11 points + goal difference adrift and no hope of anything changing soon our mindset has to be different
We don't need now to be spending bucket loads of money, we need to prepare for the championship, and start to bring in players for that challenge whilst giving players on the fringes a go see what they can do
