They do indeed. Allardyce will bring Sunderland back. McLaren with one of the best attacking sides in the Championship, managed to finish outside of the play offs last season.

This January we need to not spend silly money

His primary purpose in the team is to perform defensive duties competently. The attacking side of the game is secondary, otherwise you may as well play Bacuna there all of the time.

It looks to me that he enjoys the easy part of the game i.e. running freely with the ball but does not want to put the hard yards in. This is why I do not agree with those that say he puts a lot of effort in. Add this to defensive positioning and not knowing when to cross or being able to direct a cross and you have a player that needs replacing quickly. He wastes so much of our possession.

Agree with this, Hutton gets forward well but his crossing is mediocre and then he just seems content to jog back to his proper position, if at all rather than busting a gut to get back.   If he really gave a damn he'd practice putting some whip, dip pace and swerve on his crosses in training.

Us and the North east lot have been horribly run for years, I'd imagine most neutrals would be hoping the bottom 3 stays as it is.

And to further rub it in for the long suffering fans, Boro will come up as champions and Blues via the play-offs...

Just what was the point of signing these 2 in the summer:-
1) Tiago Illori
On a season long loan from Liverpool, with an option to buy at what £7 million? Injured when he came and has made, I think, one appearance on the subs bench. Can't see the option to buy being taken up after relegation. Should the Loan agreement allow send him back now and free up a Loan slot for someone who can go straight into the first team.
2) Crespo.
Bought for under £1 million. Said to be able to play in any of the back 4 positions. Yet he is not tried at left back after Amavi's injury. He must be as bad as Kinsella appears to be.

They could not even get in today's squad at Norwich when several who played Saturday were rested or injured.
Put both on the exit list along with Joe Cole, N'Zogbia, etc, and free up spaces in the New 25 man squad list at the end of the January window.

Ilori, Crespo and Kozak really puzzle me. They must be really shit in training to not even warrant a look in amongst the current match day squad if no-hopers

I'm now at a point of thinking that it's best not to bother throwing stupid money at players in the vague hope of staying up. If somebody is available who Remi thinks can do a job next season, then by all means bring them in. If not, I want to see the current squad suffer the embarrassment of the remaining matches

Targets in January or in the summer.....

Sam Byram
Michael Keane
James Chester (not playing at all at WBA)
Austin (well he's happy enough to play in the championship for QPR)

Llori, Crespo and Kozak must be supremely shit not to get in this squad, who for my money are the very worst we've seen in my entire lifetime (first game 1978)

How many times are people going to suggest Austin despite many pointing out he is in the last year of his contract and has no intention of joining a club in a relegation fight, although it could be argued we are not.

it would take stupid money and a gold-plated relegation get-out clause for Austin to join

Unless his ego can be stroked into thinking he'd be an all time legend if he got Villa out if this mess, this transfer ain't happening

Austin was more if he's happy playing for QPR in the championship, he might be happy playing for us in the championship with slightly higher wages. I accept it's as realistic as Remy turning up here.

Start at the back and  move up.  A keeper Marshall of Cardiff or Heaton of Burnley.

Would have a proper punt Sam Byrom of Leeds.

Two forwards both  of  whom know where the goal is - Gray of Burnley and Austin.  The fall back reserve  would be  Naysmith of Everton.

I would try anything right now.

The problem is negotiating contracts  with prospective players knowing we  are just about kaput.

The other problem to consider is that Neither Garde or his staff will have a scooby doo on talent in the lower leagues or suitable players to get us out of the Championship. He will be relying on our transfer committee which of course has an exemplary record in the market to date......
