Aston Villa will offer QPR £8m for striker Charlie Austin, 26, in the January transfer window.

This'll annoy me. We had all summer to get him.

never goin to happen

well documented austin has said he wont go to a team fighting relegation

plus he waits until the end of the season he is a free agent

Larf. Aye, that's possibly the definition of mission impossible to persuade him to come here. We can offer him literally nothing.

But you think we can get Remy?

Remy would be here for 5 months on loan, and would get into the transfer market spotlight by playing. Bit of a difference compared to Austin who would be stuck in the championship with us if we went down, would have to agree to lose millions he'd get leaving on a free to sign for us and has  currently  probably already been tapped up by half the premiership with a view to joining in May. Now if we could get Austin on loan then maybe he could be persuaded but i can't see what's it in for his current club.

The only way Remy would possibly come here is if Chelsea brought another striker in.

According to the Sunday Sun so undoubtedly bullshit.

Gabriel Agbonlahor is set to leave Aston Villa in a cut-price £3m move to the United Arab Emirates, where three clubs are reported to have interest in the striker

I take it they are nightclubs rather than football clubs?

A load of cash and a favourable release clause = can't lose for him.

The thought of swapping Gabby for Austin and £5M net is intoxicating.

Footstamper, I'll admit in the summer I wasn't keen on signing Austin, but in hindsight him + an extra £6-8M instead of Gestede would almost certainly have been good business, despite all conventional wisdom saying £12-14M, which I seem to recall being the figures being bandied about, being way too much to pay.

Bollocks, means I owe silhil an apology on that one, as it looks like he actually called something right on that one.

We need to buy young and hungry players who will be ready for next season, no matter what division were in.
Button, Bidwell, Byram, Keane, Cousins, Hughes, Bamford, Bentley, Mowatt, Andre Gray.
We need to plan ahead and be ready.

Gabby probably thinks that the UAE is out by Coleshill or Marston Green as opposed to the Middle East of the fucking world.

bugger me why would austin want to come?

his goals to games ratio would turn to shit and money wise he can be a free agent in the summer and get a massive signing on fee

the clue is in his statement: "i dont want to go to a club battling relegation"
