Normally I'd agree, but there a few reasons why he might want to move on.

One, we look like we're down, he's on 65k now, but what will he be on once the relegation clause kicks in? (assuming his contract has one, surely it must?!) He hasn't got too many years at the top left, so maybe he (his agent) might calculate he'd be better off in the long run jumping ship.

Two, with the next tv contract and untold gazillions on offer etc. some other club who actually has a chance at avoiding relegation might be willing/stupid enough to throw 60k plus a week his way and a three year deal, if we're very lucky.

All that said, there does seem to be a bit of wishful thinking about Garde/the club's hints that we could get rid of him in January, which would free up some funds for the desperately needed incomings, and we might have to wait until the summer when the relegation clause has kicked in, and Gabby feels the pain of going down in his pocket.

It may of course be a clever bit of management by Garde. Leave him out, then throw him back in unexpectedly and realising what me may be missing if he leaves, has a belting second half of the season.

It has been posted before - who in their right minds would sign gabby based on how shit he has been for the past 5 seasons?

No prem team will touch him with a barge pole and even if he dropped to the championship can you honestly see anyone paying him even 30K a week which is probably half of what he is on.

Unless we sweeten the deal by paying him off he will stop here, even if he gets a reduction in wages which I would be dubious about as knowing how we negotiate contracts

BBC Sport saying Fulham, Forest and Bolton not able to sign anyone in January owing to FFP breaches - it would be just our luck if we had agreed a deal with them to take Gabby, N'Zogbia and Richardson!

Gabby is shit, he wont leave because no one will buy him. He's firmly on easy street, the number of times I've seen him laugh after making a mistake or skying a shot pisses me off, anyone with a winners attitude wouldn't be chuckling they'd be training harder. All he's interested in now is living the lifestyle of the footballer. We are stuck with that fucking donkey for years thanks to another dumb Fox decision. He should have been offered a diet not an extension.
