I reckon Ayew will give it 12 months in the Championship. I reckon there will be some sort of release clause but for 3-4 million more than we paid. Austin did not go either last summer.

Most of the side will stay I think. Maybe Sanchez will go, Gana might return to France, but beyond them I think much of the squad will be kept together to give it a shot.

That's probably about right. Maybe Richards might go to what, Everton? Stoke? Somewhere like that.

Gil, Adama, Amavi, Veretout, Ayew, Okore and actually probably Sanchez I would expect to hang about. If we don't go straight back up then I'd expect a few of them to rethink things.

Would take him but he's another to me that just plays off a main striker, that's a massive gaping hole in the squad that must be rectified in January. How good is this Laurent Delpierre guy?

It would be another option, but I don't really see how much extra he really brings.

Works his balls off and would be a decent signing in the wide forward roles. Would still need a centre forward though.

Looks a bit of a lump to me I have to say. 7 in 24 is not the sort of record that is going to save us either.

Agree, we have far more pressing needs.

He doesn't really play as a wide-forward any more than Gil or Grealish do. And if we want to start playing with actual wide forwards, I'd much rather we started giving Adama more than four minutes at a time to do it.

I agree with the latter part. I think that workrate is the number 1 requirement of Garde at the moment though. Watching Vardy at Leicester getting the rewards of workrate, I can see why Naismith would appeal.

Can't say he's familiar to me but sounds like the sort of midfielder we need.

Agreed, but it's Everton he works his balls off for because there's usually someone else around to pick them up and put them back in his jock-strap. In the first half today I found it difficult to find a Villa player who would piss on him if he was on fire!

Still like him as a player though.
(And he's a good person.)

I haven't caught up with the last few pages so this may have already come up but with a tournament next summer and not appearing to be in his new managers first choice eleven maybe Benteke on loan? He wouldn't have a problem settling in and their fans don't seem over keen on him.

He's gone and he's never coming back. He'll be at that tournament (barring injury) regardless if he's playing for them regularly or not.

To play the Sanchez role ?

Just the sort of player we need in there. If I recall correctly we were heavily linked with him in one of the earlier O'Neill summers.
