trouble is, we've only produced one league win since August - conjuring up three in less than three weeks is as likely as me finding Ola Jordan on my doorstep stark naked begging for a blow job

Get with the program she is fingerblasting outside the tesco express as we speak.

I think our January targets will depend on how we do over the next couple of games.  For example, this weekend Chelsea paly Sunderland and Man utd host Norwich.  You would bank on the two home sides winning.  If we can manage to win at Newcaslte, that will put us three points of Sunderland and not far off Norwich.  It would be dream world to think we can start to gain momentum and put some real pressure on the teams ahead.
What better way to do that and show a statement of intent by getting a striker with real pedigree?
Alexandre Lacazette springs to mind.  Offer him a contract with a low release clause if we get relegated, pair him with Charlie Austin and we might start to look a decent side again.  Another fantastic addition would be Mark Heaton from Burnley. He might be persuaded now Burnley have lost a bit of momentum.  I'd even be tempted to bring in NRC on a short-term loan from the MLS to add a bit of steel to the midfield.
Who knows, three very good signings could be the catalyst for our great escape.  IF we can produce the three wins before the window opens.
(I'll wake up now).

Reo Coker? Are you Si off the WM phone in?

I've heard about him! RE Reo-Coker, I was thinking about our budget, the players we'd be able to attract with experience. He came to mind, and I think I'd have him in our Midfield above Gana. He's also experienced a relegation battle at West Ham and might provide decent leadership qualities - another thing that our midfield misses.

I discovered yesterday that Roma fans refer to Ashley Cole as Ahahahahahahahshley Cole.

'Ah ah' is the Italian equivalent of 'Ha ha'.

Matt Phillips and Austin both looked decent for QPR tonight. How on earth they were not on our list to get last summer is still beyond me.

I was dubious as to whether Austin would prove to be a bit of a one season at the top level, but he's just carried on regardless in a team that's not exactly been setting the world alight and apparently hasn't been fully fit for most of the season from what little Championship coverage there is over here.

Phillips looked like one of the best right sided players in the top flight last season, which was no mean feat in a team that looked even worse than we did.  I'd have ripped your arm off if we'd been in with a chance of signing him.

Austin has scored over 17 goals for the last five consecutive seasons.  We need to be in for him in January.

He has 6 months left on his contract. Get him in on loan, it would help him be back in th PL and U.S., but without a longer term commitment from both parties.

Why on earth would QPR agree to that?

Quite. I think that ship has sailed anyway now.  He will get a move to a mid table side.

Can't say this Belgian we are being linked to inspires me with much confidences

It's probably about time that we had the usual transfer window thread, and as this is as good as any.
