It really is depressing when the reality sets in that no-one worth having wants to join us. The whiff of failure and the flutter of the white flag is omnipresent at Villa Park. It feels as if everyone from the top to bottom has just given in.

We really have had our expectations brilliantly lowered by the regime at VP haven't we. Proud history, bright future my arse. Proud history, bright green fungus more like.

It is not that the club or the board have written off our chances of survival, it is the wider world of football that has written us off.  It is like the captain of the Titanic inviting the passengers on the Carpathia to come aboard and enjoy the rest of the voyage.  It is not a money thing now, it is about asking millionaire players to spend the winter in Birmingham fighting for their lives in relegation battles.

I think it goes beyond that Brian. My concern is that the wider world of football has written us off full stop, and frankly that's pretty understanable. We have been run with scarcely believable ineptitude for years now. I worry that our inability to attract players, assuming we're bothering to try and attract them, this transfer window will result in us ending up being cast adrift at the end of the season. Then come the summer those players we want might look at us and assume we're a shambles and not want to join then either.

I thought that was a certainty, in all honesty I don't think it's what we need anyway

Knowing our luck we will get two in and then miss the fing deadline by a couple of minutes, no reprieve as we are not Arsenal.

If we miraculously win at West Ham tomorrow and beat Norwich on Saturday, we will be tantalizingly close to those above us. The club may well live to regret their lack of activity. All ifs buts and may be's I know but build, embed for a promotion push, don't go down without some pride ffs.

Imagine the lift if we went into these two massive games with two or three new players. We could be right back in the mix on Saturday night yet the club seems to have waved the white flag. It's quite unforgivable.

Think he was one Garde was quite keen on judging from his comments this morning. Big shame that.

It is pretty desperate that the brains trust could not identify 3-4 players to strengthen this team in January that would realistically come. They had time, it is pretty pathetic.

Totally agree.  I am sure Fox and Hollis could have put together some package for potential signings heavily incentivised towards our staying up.  The first interview with Hollis was revealing, likewise Tom Fox's statement about other clubs rolling the dice and paying over the odds.  It's quite clear they have had very little intention of trying to save the Club this window. It's all utterly spineless and speaks volumes about the lack of genuine passion and pride in the Club at boardroom level.  I'm saddened, angered and disgusted by the whole circus running this great football club and I want the lot of them gone.  Their whole approach to running a football club is beyond extraordinary.
