Sitting in L7,was sad to see people getting chucked out after 4 mins for ,I believe persistent standing. It seems the stewards have been over zealous with the Brigada lot.Im not a member and sit about 12 rows back, but would love to know the score.

Also: there must be something in the tapwater at the Etihad because the whole Citeh squad are built like professional wrestlers. Even that cheating little twat Sterling looks more like a rugby league scrum half than a footballer. As for Yaya Toure, he's the largest man I have ever seen on the VP pitch.

I said something similar to Mrs Ealing. She made it clear that she couldn't give a shit. But the difference between the two sets of players was incredible.

How did those of you watching on TV  saw the Gestede/Hart throw in incidents. From upper Witton End I saw it as the throw back was a bit harsh but Hart could have left it rather than trying to play it and giving the corner away? City players going mad I did not understand however fair play to Kompany who told them to get on with it.

Gestede and Hart were talking before it. Gestede seemed to know what he was doing, the throw-in had a bit of whip on it and seemed to be aimed at Hart's legs. Not very good sportsmanship but in our position I really didn't give a shit and too often we're the nice guy when we could do with a bit of aggression. It's a shame Gestede's flick from the resulting corner didn't drop in and really cause a stir.
A city fan on the Guardian website said it was the most outrageous example of gamesmanship he'd ever seen. I think he needs to get out more.

ps only joking
Only the football section!
How do you know I'm a man anyway, you sexist pig? (Sorry, once a Guardian reader always a Guardian reader).

After a half a week in charge, to be playing the top team in the country - who'd just had an outstanding performance in Europe in midweek - that was a hugely encouraging display. We rode our luck, but our performance deserved a bit of that. For the first time since the false dawn of the FA Cup semi, I actually feel optimistic about our chances for the rest of this season. If we can continue to play like that, and with a decent addition or two in Jan, we'll be ok.

Guzan was much better today, he looked calmer.  Hutton and Richards have to stop switching off when the ball comes in to the middle but we generally good.  Clark did well but still needs to cut out the silly mistakes.  Amavi got caught out a few times but was two to one most of the time.  Saying that, I thought we defended well and have something to build on.  Sanchez, so much better, as was Gana.  Vertout worked hard, gave it away a few times but did well overall.  Gil is a player.  No pace, but is an artist and I would like him to have a run in the side now.  Ayew worked hard, on his own, but did well enough. I also thought that Sinclair played well.  No great width from Villa other than the full back getting forward, but I am sure that this was part of the instructions from Garde.

Overall, I'd have snatched their hands off for a goalless draw before the game.  We played some really nice stuff without looking really threatening, I'm sure that will come in time.  Great point and very much a cause for optimism. Up the Villa.  If we can do it against Man City, we can do this against any other team in the division.

On Brad Guzan's save from Raheem Sterling's header…

I will ask Tony Parks if that was in the training session!

I like him more and more, looks like he knows when to be serious but also has a wicked sense of humour.

Good performance, and the most organised Villa team I've seen in absolutely ages.
Liked the little N'Zogbia cameo at the end as well. His contract is finally up at the end of the season so we may get a few decent performances out of him in the meantime.
Onwards and upwards and all that...

They're really hurt by this. It's so funny. Gestede has upset them. I remember when they were just as shit as we are. They've obviously forgot.

Just read a few pages of the blue moon. .If they were in our position I am sure they would have formed a mancs  version of isis  and now be executing people left right and centre.. The manager would be first to go by the looks of things.

So did I.

He worked his balls off, his mistakes were more down to trying too hard rather than just being poor.

Been impressed with Hutton the last few games
