Long way to go, but I wonder if Souness will revise his pre-match comments that our players just aren't good enough.

I'll take that for a half time score. The passing and movement from Villa has been unrecognisable from what went before.
Impressed with the midfield, especially Gil, who's prompting and link up play has been a joy.

Im enjoying Andy Townsend's co-commentary on my feed.

Great First half, whatever happens from here on in I'm delighted with the change.

Was that Rooney who just held up the digital  board showing one minute of added time?

More solidity, structure, coherence, patience, passing and moving in 45 minutes than I've seen in the last few seasons. Now if we can just find a way to score, this could be the start of a huge awakening.

Much better, we look like a team of professionals who are playing to a system and we're holding our won well against one of the best sides in Europe.  This should serve as the first bit of evidence that the squad is better than we've seen.  Regardless of the 2nd half (to an extent) this is the turnaround we wanted to become a side that looks like they know each other.

Very encouraging so far, but still struggling to see where the goals will come from.  Has Ayew touched the ball yet?

No doubt the British press will conveniently overlook a blatant dive from Sterling.

Towards the middle of that first half we had some really lovely midfield interplay between Gana, Sanchez, Hutton and Gil. All I wanted was for us to look organised, set-up properly and to see how we faired then, and well, we've been solid! Keep going Villa!

A very calm, composed and intelligent first half. In the manager's image, by the look of it.

Ayew has had some good touches and won the ball in the air a few times. Skipped past about three of their players.

Decent so far. Good possession though almost no threat. Citeh have been very pedestrian and will presumably pick it up.

We've not really got anything in behind or in the air. Gil is doing well. Clark and Richards have both almost cost us tho.

Amavi also doing very well. If Hutton even had half as good a cross as lowton he'd be a good attacking right back

Bit fed up with the commentary team, saying that should have been a penalyy for a foul on Sterling, when he basically messed up a chance by being totally one footed and then blatantly dived when he knew the chance had gone.
