Whisper it, but not only do we appear we might be a bit more difficult to break down, we're also showing a bit of patience when we have possession of the football...Guzan still looks shit though

That was not confidence inspiring from Guzan.

Clark and Guzan passing the ball between them in our own box...why is that making me nervous?

This playing your best players in their best positions resulting in playing your best football with some sort of coherent plan is just the sort of foreign, fancy-dan bullshit we could do without.

WHY DIDN'T WE GIVE SHERWOOD MORE TIME?!

It's clearly some sort of comspiracy to keep english managers out of the game or summink.

Don't want to get carried away but if we persevere with this over the next number of weeks we are going to be just fine come the end of the season. It starts today. We might not win but this is a building block. Garde has brought calm to Villa and he is measured enough a man and manager not to get carried away whatever happens today. But I like where we appear to be going. Or at least attempting to go.

This from the BBC Football Update page:

Patient stuff from Villa. They make it all the way to the edge of the City penalty area and instead of attempting an aimless shot, they decide to bring the ball back all the way to midfield and try again.

A great spell of pressure from the home side which ends with Idrissa Gana surging forward before striking over the bar.

Positive stuff.
