I have just seen the footage on SSN of the team standing on the platform of Birmingham International waiting for the train to take them to London.
Is this the best preparation for a game?

I'm sure it has its merits, but it all seemed a bit cheap and unprofessional.
I wonder if any any premier league teams travel by train in this way.

And, if we MUST travel by train, why the fuck haven't the club got a private train for the boys.
Christ, how far has this club fallen!!

It's probably a case of "If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got" - and that's not been much recently.
Maybe it's just a case of trying something different to try and change our luck.

I'm on the Chiltern Rattler later.  If it's good enough for me, it's good enough for that lot.

I'm sure this must have something to do with the weather (for those of you overseas its very foggy).
They may of thought it to much of a risk having assets players costing millions of pounds traveling by coach.

Correct.  They'll return by coach later.

Loads of clubs travel by train. Why do you think they buy so many friends and family railcards?

I'd argue train travel (especially first class) is more comfortable in any case.

I do think that in some folks minds its yet another opportunity to have a dig at the club

Looking at some of the possible suggestions as to why use the train they all seem not only plausible but sensible also

Some will not let that get in the way of having a pop at the club

If that's a pop at me, don't bother.
I was joking, obviously it was too subtle for some.

and why do the players need to be wrapped in cotton wool and pampered? I'm sure they are not travelling economy either, so they'll be just fine.

This really is trying hard to find something to moan about. I think first class train is a clear upgrade on coach travel.

Other clubs do use trains - a few months ago I was on a train from Liverpool to London when the Everton team plus Roberto Martinez got on at Runcorn. The conductor wished em well despite being "a red", and they got whisked off to a waiting coach at Euston.
