This England team is still nowhere near where it should be, but it was a decent win

The summary on Irish TV was that England are improving step by step although they weren't convinced wrt their overall trajectory as a team, but that it was "a breakthrough game for them at the No. 10 position".

I agree, I think he's still being a coward with his back row subs, There's absolutely no need to have Chessum (who covers 2nd row and 6), Cunningham-South and Ben Curry all on the bench, leaving us with few options to change things in the backs. He needs to pick between the last 2 and add another back.

On top of that we need to stop being so negative for long stretches of the game. We barely tried to play any rugby until France scored and then once we started to keep the ball in hand we quickly realised that we could get at them and finished the half well. Then we reverted for 10mins in the 2nd half before Fin Smith decided to just play his natural game and suddenly we started cutting through them.

If he can take the shackles off them this squad has the potential to be very good.

This looks crazy small on my phone.

Ireland are really good, but that was like watching 2010s Scotland. Dismal from pretty much the first kick.

Fixed now, no idea why it does that sometimes.

Unsurprisingly Warren Gatland is leaving his role as Wales head coach.

Inevitable really, they've fallen below Georgia in the rankings, that has to be unacceptable for them.

Strange to leave part way through the season.

The state or the country?

Probably both given how bad Wales have been.

Scotland wasting a few chances here. They might regret it.

Nice we’re making a habit of grinding out wins now. But we’ve got to stop being so open in defence - Scotland completely dominated that first half.

England will likely beat a poor Wales and Italy, and it will look like a decent 6 nations campaign.

Its papering over tbe cracks though. This England team are still a million miles away from where it should be. Having watched the game back this morning, England were pretty poor.

Yup, RFU will no doubt bury their heads that Borthwick is a good coach rather than getting an elite one

I agree. Where I will give him some credit is that he's finally got the 8, 9 and 10 axis right in the last 2 games.

France putting Italy to the sword here.

Ireland are 1 point favourites against them in a couple of weeks. Don't see it myself, and think they may beat us fairly comfortably unless they have another off day.
