I would say they'll be moving on to stories about how their double hard super-Zulu firm scattered some ordinary fans walking back from their ground, but they're way ahead of me on that count.

Common theme you find when speaking to fans of other teams about visiting the Sty, their habit of routinely picking off the ones and twos always comes up. There was a video of their new-uber-super-double-hard 10 man strong Zulu Youth firm bashing up a Liverpool mini-bus from a season or two back too as another example.

last time we played them at night , before the match ,, there was a load  of blues walking round aston park  in the dark kicking shit out of young villa fans who were  in ones and twos ,,,

They'll never live down those 5 years in the late 80s and early 90s when they couldn't even average 9K. 6K in 1989.

Ahh the good old Ram & Sam Kumar Days... It still makes me chuckle now.

They're too washed up to do even that these days. One of the hooligan coppers told me that they haven't got the numbers to cause any serious problems round Villa Park, the police operation is all about protecting them.

Williams could barely manage a turn out of 100 of them 12 years ago.

A mate and I met this particular group before that game. We were walking near the junction of Trinity Road and Bevington Road when a group of around twenty came round the corner crossing the road straight towards us. Two of us and a mob of them. We both knew exactly what was coming but couldn't do anything about it. They got about ten yards away when a Police Van came round the corner and veered away from us and just walked past.
Never been so happy to see the Old Bill in my life as we were five seconds or so from getting a right hiding. Whenever I think of Noses, this is exactly what they are like. Mob handed, picking off ones and twos.

I know I'm going to get a bollocking for this but, I've stood in 50k crowds at the sty, a long time ago but definitely 50k or more.

Very likely, Dave. It is the 10,000 they got for the rest of the season that buggered their average gate.

Were there, perchance, a lot of away fans?

I'd imagine the vast majority were against us or later rounds of the FA Cup. I'm pretty sure it's over 30 years since they last had a 40K attendance. Assuming you don't count the 3 million they took to the Leyland Daf final.

The last time they had a decent crowd involved those in attendance choosing whether they go Roundhead or Cavalier.

I may be wrong, but I think the last time they had 30k plus would have been for an FA Cup game against Forest nearly 30 years ago.

They had over 40K against us Dec 27th 1982. I'm guessing that's the last time they managed 40K.

Isn't the last 30,000+ league attendance they got against us? Pretty sure it is and pretty sure it's a long time ago, nearly the 70's.

Actually, thanks to the internet, their last 30K attendance was Forest in the FAC 5th Round. 1988. Stop sniggering at the back!

They also had 40K vs Watford in the Cup in 1984. Then there was the game I mentioned above against us. 32K against us Feb 1982. 33K against us Oct 1980. And 33K last day of the season against Notts Co in Aug 1980 as they were promoted. And that kiddies, is every 30K attendance they've had since Jan 1st 1980.
