It's either away only or closed. The decision hasn't yet been made.

I'm guessing it's to do with it kicking off in there last time we played the carrier bags.

I think it's a good idea either way. Having both set's of fans in the same pub is only asking for trouble, especially after the last game.

I'd keep it open for away fans. Best place to herd them together. Having said that, you know the fuzz will close it down about half six anyway.

Herding them together makes sense in some ways but could also be an invitation for them to "officially" go nuts...and could be a magnet for any of the Villa boys who maybe up for it.
Can't imagine either of the sets of away fans treating "Villa" pubs with anything resembling respect...damage will be done.

Dave W: I assume it's WMP who make the decision about away only/closing?

Against the baggies we couldn't get in the Villa half as they closed it so we just walked in the baggies section, very strange feeling going behind enemy lines, we squeezed through a fence in to the Villa section, very touch and go as to which fans were going to attack us first.

My thoughts exactly. They will come in on coaches and straight into the ground or will drink in town and come to the ground late I think.

Where is everybody drinking pre game? I'm in the yenton in the afternoon then the social later on to drink away the nerves.

You just know the noses will smash the pub up or cause damage at least, then get escorted in the ground and claim some kind of victory.

We don't get a pub when we go to Albion or Blues, yet the police have given them both one on the doorstep. As I said its asking for trouble, more so against Blues.

Witton Arms Facebook says it's away fans only for Albion & Blues game ..... Police enforced it , away fans only or don't open at all.

If it were mine I'd rather close for SHA. Their lads won't want to drink there and any fans there will be a magnet for our bottle throwers. I can't see it at all.

Zulu contingents have special passes for the Lions Club, matey. They are traveling by longboat from West Heath using the canal network.  A tasty Villa firm will try and sink them at Selly Oak bridge using shallow depth charges but it is likely that many will make it through.

Forewarned is forearmed, as they say.

I've only ever been to Nuneaton once in my life.

you need to get out more

Maybe so, but most assuredly one visit to Nuneaton is one too many.
